Driftmotion intercooler installed

i got this intercooler from big aaron to be the first to try it on our cars. it is a little longer than the spearco replica that he also sells and about a half an inch thinner. i got a piping kit from him as well and decided to let you all know how it went. this is a very good set up in my opinion. the piping was kind of difficul to do but it went alright.

this is the intercooler itself with the two elbows.

i had to move the oil cooler back and the overflow tank back as well but it was rather easy.

Very nice indeed. It's too bad he doesn't roll the ends of the pipes so they have less chance of popping off tho. Is that an aftermarket oil cooler I noticed lying next to the intercooler? :icon_bigg

yes i did remove the support but i dont think you have to it only took like 5-10 minutes to remove and it made it a whole lot easier.

and yes it is an aftermarket oil cooler but i found out that i needed to get a t-stat to make it work good so it's not on yet.

^^Are you going to put the bumper support back on? If not, that might cause some safety issues. Just letting you know. I am considering to buy one from them as well.

I had to make my own lips when I did my piping, not too hard with a hammer and anvil. They have worked fine so far.

it is back on, and i recommend buying from them, they are great to deal with and everything was as they told me.

I dont think many people care what it is judging by recent IC installs!

its the plastic sheet that go's under the car from the front bar then under radiator and then to the engine cross member, it forces the air thru the intercooler / radiator rather then air deflecting around and going under the car before the radiator....

IMHO probably a large helping cause of blown head gaskets!

i have a couple questions. first off sleepersupra, how did you remount the stock oil cooler behind the ic like that? and second does the bigger intercooler come with the piping or seperate?

The bigger spearco style intercooler does not include the piping or elbows, but I do stock all the piping and other parts now to make a complete kit from the throttle body to the turbo, including the bov and the bov flange pipe. The routing is pretty simple. The new silicone elbows I have are extra long so it makes it easier. The bracket on the top needs to be cut down a bit with a hack saw but the install is very easy because the bracket lines up with a hood latch support bolt hole, so you just hang it from that and make the lower brackets. Notice on this one I also did something new, I cut the small end off the 3k pipe that sizes down to 2.25", making it 2.5" to 2.75" and removing the restriction, but still letting you keep the 3k pipe to bolt the metal vacuum piping to.

I used three 45deg elbows on this one, but it can be done with the basic 2.5" piping kit ($165), two 90deg silicone elbows ($50pr), a bov flange pipe ($22.50) a 2.75" silicone coupler for the throttle body ($6.25), a 45 deg silicone elbow for the 3k pipe ($20), and a 2" to 2.5" reducer for the turbo ($11.10). Plus the intercooler ($230) and brackets for ($10), the total would be $514.85 for the whole deal, and still under $600 INCLUDING a Greddy or HKS style blow off valve. You will have some extra piping left over too, which can be sold or go on a buddy's car.
