I need an upgraded clutch for my 1jz gt3076R build but I'm trying to keep it as driveable as possible as it's a daily driver

Anyone else using this setup with 400-430hp?

I got the stage 3, which has the 6 puck clutch.

I have no issues, but it can be a bit harsh, but it comes with the territory...

No chatter, and it does take some time to get used to it...

430whp would be pushing the limits, I would not recommend the stage 2 for that.

The stage 3 is totally daily driveable, it's not harsh at all. We just finished aother 1jz swap last week and it had the stage 3 clutch, very nice to drive.

I don't think it's harsh at all, but then again, I'm not a girlie man................:biglaugh:

I like the feel of it seriously, but it's the only clutch I've ever had so I have nothing to compare it too. It holds great and I've put over 500rwhp through it.

don't want to jack the thread but would the clutch be fine with a lightened flywheel and pushing 400hp max? mine is a daily and i want 400hp and have been looking at the stage 2 from driftmotion and just wondering if it will hold well.

again sorry for jacking the thread.

should hold fine at that power level...

personally, I used the stock flywheel as it's easier to DD the car with the heavier flywheel (and the same goes for drag racing it :evil2: )

why is that, will the lightened flywheel make the car chatter at take off like a 6 puck clutch? or is it because it'll last longer?

I have to disagree, I have a lightened flywheel, and I love the combination. Great set up, IMO

it's fact, it's why they use heavy flywheels in the first place, it's easier to get moving with a heavier flywheel (more torque)

Our lightweight flywheel friction surface is hardened, and it is twice as thick as the lesser quality units you are thinking of. And you will have no problems with it wanting to stall, the pressure plate is so heavy on a r154 clutch that the flywheel could be 2 pounds and still be easy to drive.

Have you ever driven a 1jz car with a lightweight flywheel? I have yet to hear anyone say they had any problem driving a 1jz car with a lightweight flywheel. Maybe if you used it with an unsprung 4 puck disk or something, but a sprung 6 puck or stock disk works just fine.

eh, I got a 7M...

My old vehicle was an 82 toyota hilux, and people put heavier flywheels for more grunt...

Heavier flywheels are easier to slip and control IMHO, not to mention the higher torque transfer...
