A friend and someone else completely unrelated, recently asked me about this event and I figured I better document it before I forget any of the details (Like that would ever happen). Either way I never wrote about it before so hear it is.
On a Holiday weekend a while ago I got to race a Twin Turbo Viper and a BPU Viper (exhaust and some other stuff) at the same time for a half a dozen times. Both guys were really cool. The quick details were there was a Viper meet at the Pavilions and they were all leaving early, I was just about to jump in my car and go punish someone and Clifton stopped me and said "Hey you just got here! Stay a while! These guys said they will race you." Not wanting to miss my chance I was still getting into my car and getting ready to drive away I hollered "What kind of car do you guys have" Both of them had Vipers 2nd gen I think. I hopped out of the car and we BS'ed awhile One was a BPU Viper (he made no excuses) and stated straight out that he thought I would beat him, Super nice guy and KNEW my car was faster but was still down with the fun. The other guy had a twin turbo Viper said last time it dynoed it broke the dyno at 1250 RWHP. We hung out a little longer and enjoyed the night. When it was time to leave they were down. Yee haa, we were so excited!!!
So we all line up SB on the *** from the ********* (I cant believe we didn't get caught) we musta had at least 6-7 vehicles and a bike following as spectators. I didn't have a horn so my passenger counted 1, 2, 3 on his fingers and then we went. Picture this Black BPU viper on my left, Yellow TT Viper on my right, my best friend from high school, that introduced me to Z cars in the passenger seat (he lives in Colorado, and was visiting for Thanksgiving) for his very first ride in my Z since I put the Turbo Supra motor in it. The 2 of us were giddy as school girls, just barely being able to keep our cool during these events. The 3 of us slow the entire 3 lane freeway down to about 40MPH and give ourselves a bunch of room. Remember 6-7 spectators in tow.
My Buddy counts 3 and were off, I jumped on everyone because I was doing a brake stand, I was very surprised I jumped on the TT Viper, I knew we would drop the BPU Viper with no problem, after a count of one thousand 1 the TT Viper was passing me effortlessly. We slowed down and did it again, then again with the NA then again with TT, we musta raced 7-8 times between the Pavilions and Mcdowell then one of the bikes rolled up after we had stopped with the fun It was a Yellow Ducati, (998, I think) He gave a big thumbs up as he rolled by. I said "Thanks", and hollered "You wanna go?" Pointing at his bike and my car. He gestured "Sure why not" with an approving thumbs up.
We slowed and I had no chance to do a brake stand and he dropped like 3 gears and pulled at least a car length right away. He looked back as i was reeling him in and we ran out of room, we had to shut it down. I would have called a loss on my part, but we were gaining. A couple of days later a friend (not a witness to the whole event) said "I heard you kicked my buddys a$$?" I said "HUH???" He said, "That was my buddy on the Ducati you raced." "He said you would have kicked his a$$ if you would have had another 100 feet." I said "Huh I would have called it a loss!" He said, his friend said, "You were reeling him in fast!" I said "well if he's gonna concede, Ill take it!!!"
Since there were so many witnesses people still bring it up here and there, so I thought I would document it.
It was a great night, one that I will never forget!!!
The Z car was at 16-17 psi and was running strong. Later I turned it up to 21+ psi, more stories will follow.
