i have a few questions about buying a downpipe. i see the titanmotorsports downipe elimnates the turbo elbow and ive heard this frees up more horsepower than a regular 3 in downpipe but its expensive. is it worth the extra price if not any reccomendations on a good 3 in downpipe ya i know its kind of a newb question

The more you want, the more you pay. It's not really all that expensive IMO, compared to some of the things you'll run into later on. But to answer your question in short: Yes.

There's a ton of information on downpipes on the site, so start searching and you'll be reading for a few hours. I myself don't have one, but there's been good things said about the BIC downpipe.

BIC DDP FTW.

if he's a newb, he probably won't understand the mkiii lingo. let me break it down for you

because i can (company out of canada)
divorced downpipe (meaning the wastegate vents to the atmosphere, aka, its SUPER loud at wot (wide open throttle);))
and its "for the win"

oh, and im pretty sure the titan doesn't come with an elbow. get one that does. you save a lot of money that way.

You can also get the DDP with a rerouted wastegate stream which is the best of both worlds. Makes more power and doesn't sound like an exhaust leak. It may seem like alot of money now but I think it is worth it. It can be used on larger turbo's as well which are designed to work with the stock manifold and an internal wastegate. If you think you will be adding an ebay manifold and a T4 style turbo in the near future, use the cheapest DP you can for the time being. You will need to have a custom DP made to suit these needs. Good luck.

A 3" Downpipe and exhaust is the best bang for your buck upgrade you can do on a mk3, gains of up to 50+ hp can be had just by installing a full 3" exhaust, and yes the DDP will make a little more power than a standard 3" downpipe/ elbow (only about 28 whp more!!!!). Once you have a full 3" exhaust system, you can then safely turn up the boost up to 10-12 psi and get 275-300 whp.

match that with a lexus air flow meter (search lex afm)... and some 550cc injectors and you have a potent, cheap, street machine.
