Downpipe difference over stock

Right now I have the stock elbow and stock downpipe (cat in downpipe gutted), then 3" straight pipe to the back. Stock ct26 at 10 psi. Would a good 3" downpipe make a pretty noticeable difference or is it only worthwhile for a larger turbo and more boost?

The stock turbo elbow is known to be a huge restriction. I would get a 3" wide mouth or DDP/recirculated DDP as it should at the very least allow the turbo to spool quicker.

The stock elbow is one of the biggest things holding the exhaust back. Switching to a good 3" or divorced downpipe will give you a significantly faster spool, slightly more boost, and likely save you a bit of weight as well.

There is a whole seperate pipe to handle the wastegate gas. Depending on the configuration, it either vents straight down about 3' from the turbo or at that point gets reconnected back in to the rest of the exhaust. The idea is to keep turbulence from the internal wastegate opening away from directly behind the exhaust side of the turbo to prevent extra exhaust pressure against the wheel. This gets you the faster spool.
