You either have will power or you don't! If you are WEAK, you will succumb to the addiction. Hold that over your own head. Remind yourself of how WEAK you are when you try to make an excuse for why you just have to have one. 1 = WEAK!!!!!!!!!!! Do this to benefit yourself. There is probably nothing else you could change about yourself that would have this much benefit. It will help your health! It will help your wallet! It will help your self esteem! That will help your health even more. It will help what others think of you! It will take stress off of you everywhere you go, because you don't have to go to the smokers corner anymore! Six months down the road after you quit, you won't understand how you could never smell smoke on you, even when others told you you smelled like smoke. Right now you argue with them if they tell you that. It's true. 6 months, you will smell it on others, and it will sicken you.

Congrats to all of you guys!

One more piece of advice. Find someone that spends a lot of time with you, and tell them to bitch slap you if you ever try to light up. Tell him you don't care how big a dick he is about it, it won't affect your friendship. Say this only if you mean it. All the support you can get will help.

hrm... i still don't understand how it's so addictive... i went a long time without ever smoking (18 yrs) and now that i have smoked for quite some time, i've found that it is very easy to quit smoking... you just stop. there's nothing else to it.... i've quit before for several months(when i just smoked cigars), and am currently quitting again (now that i roll my own cigs, and smoke pipe tobacco, and cigars again) for health reasons and the ridiculous price....

Bullshit. It's good for you that you feel that way, but it is simply untrue. It is a FACT that it is both physically and mentally addictive. Obviously, if it wasn't, there would be support groups, classes, programs, gums, patches to help people quit if it was easy. :nono:

There's inhalers also now that mimic a cigarette. I laughed when I saw the commercial then I realized that it kinda made sence.

EDIT: Couldnt find the NA commercial for it but heres the UK one.

I quit after both my parents died from lung cancer. My mom woke up with a cough one day and 6 weeks later was in the ground. Dad followed a year later. A big strapping guy guy who used to build aircraft carriers and oil tankers for a living he was 90 pounds and shitting in his bed just before we buried him. Both had quit 20 years earlier...

Fuzz, just wait till you hit the 3 week mark.
Food just doesn't taste the same.
That and the final craving fucking sucks.
Sleep lots, and find something to keep you busy.

well, for everyone else's sake i wish it wasn't bullshit.... or maybe most people are extremely weak willed??? or maybe i'm the abnormal one.... i don't get "cravings" or really have any general want to smoke other than out of sheer boredom... but it's remarkably easy to say no.
