Down To my Last 4 Cigs before I quit

Are U Here 2 take My Baby
Over the last several weeks/months i have been thinking about quitting. Well today is that day with the prices going way up.

Aside from the obvious health benefits, financially i REFUSE to pay $6+/- a pack to kill myself.

My goal is to quite cold turkey. No patches, no drugs, and no whatever else they make. Break this strangle hold of an addiction and start saving money and living a healthier life.

Congrats! :) I've never smoked, but friends of mine have told me how difficult it is to stop. Put all that money in a jar or in the bank. You'll be amazed at how much you used to write off for cigs. Now you can better fund that boost addiction. ;)

It certainly can. I do that with $1 bills and all my change. It's a hefty sum when I can't fit any more in the jar! :)

Cravings are pretty hard tonight though, especially since 2 people in this house smoke :-l

Congrats. My advice, keep busy and occupied when you get the urge. i quite cold turkey a few years back, and when i got the urge to smoke, i immediately found something to do to keep my mind off of it.

It wont be hard, you just have to want to do it.

You either want to stop or you don't

quit making lame excuses it's like you want to "enjoy" it before it's gone so you're just going to miss it and want it back cos the last 4 were so "good"...

I had decided to quit smoking, but waited until I smoked the last cigarette out of the pack right before bed.

8+ hours sleep with no nicotine, easier to deal with

because I didn't quit the INSTANT I decided to doesn't make it "lame". I quit because I wanted to, regardless of your silly "rules". Cold fuckin turkey bc it was that time for me. I wouldn't have been able to do this a few years ago. It's a struggle for me now, but I am pushing myself to do this, defeat this.

Agreed. Waiting for your last 4 is BS, your willpower isn't going to be any higher after those.

Hell, you should always have 'em available, that way the temptation can't get any worse.

You're always going to have to face the temptation. Others around you will smoke... and smokers are notorious for being willing to give you one when you're all freaky. If you can't take it with a cig waiting on top of the computer monitor, you damn sure won't be able to take it when you go out drinking at the strippers with your buddies.

Okay, take your time and enjoy these smokes because the next three months are going to be hell. I mean HELL. Find something to occupy your time, sunflower seeds bubble gum or something like that. Dont expect to lose weight either, you might just put on 15-20. Start an exercise program asap or something that will allow you to hold on and keep faith in what you are doing is healthy and right. You WILL have the need to smoke, you WILL need to find other ways to deal with stress and you WILL look at food like nothing before.

After those three months of hell you will be fine, your sense of smell and taste come back into your life and these butts look like and smell like failure.

Ninja - real fast, grim and IJ both make very good points, however speaking from experience I liked myself more when i smoked, lots of pressure of daily life off my shoulders and it was my own personal escape. My addiction was not my resolve, when i finally quit after months of trying it felt good. I went from 1+ pack a day to running 30 miles a week. This was 8 months ago.
