dowel pin location on block?

I feel really dumb for not knowing this but I can't find a picture anywhere...

My machine shop obviously had to take these off to deck the block but they didn't put these back in and I forgot where they go does this look right?

im pretty sure that is right, you could always just place the head casting down with out the head gasket and make sure it is correct.

Cool thanks..wonder why they did it. Maybe they knew the oiling system was going to suck and left room for improved pump design Lol

You know it does look like an easy place a guy could fab a spacer/gasket to stick in between the pump and the block to get the strainer to sit a little lower in the pan. Although there are easier ways to do that, but I'm thinking more of a manufactured product from someone that knows what they are doing.

I think its because the 7m block is basically a 6m block with some small changes, they probably just didn't get rid of the holes for the 7m but they were probably used for the 6m. Interesting idea about the spacer, but I wonder if that might cause problems from the gears meshing differently with it raised up more.
