87 Supra. Door locks acting strange. Electric door lock switch inside clicks when depressed, but the locks don't move. If I lock the car from outside (driver's door) with the key it doesn't lock the passenger door, but it unlocks both doors when I unlock it from outside (drivers door) with the key. I recently disabled factory anti-theft system, but it did this before I disabled it too. Ideas? Do I have a bad switch in drivers door or a bad lock controller?

I have problems with my locks as well. Sometimes both doors will lock/unlock from the passenger if I use the key. Sometimes the one door will work if I use either switch, can't remember which one. Anyways, I didn't get to fixing it yet because it's too damn freezing and I don't care about using the key for the winter, but just follow the TSRM and find out what's wrong. I always hear about people encountering power lock problems where it comes down to the switch and all it needs is for the contacts to be cleaned.

Added the link.

I just realized you said your car is an 87, so is mine. Second poster's name is 87 supra...so I assume his is probably one too. lol.

A wire has come off the door lock solenoid (switch on the back side of the lock cylinder) on the driver's side. Of course you have to buy the whole thing to get that from Toyota at $194! I'm off to ebay or a salvage yard I guess. I'll try to post a pic to hopefully help other members..

is there a way to clean the lock mechanism so it functions better in cold weather?

Yes. Before you pull the door panel off I would get electrical contact cleaner, wd40, etc (with that small tube off the end of the nozzle) and spray into the lock from the outside. Make sure you push the little plastic tube into the lock BEFORE you start spraying, or you will get lubed instead of the lock. Work the lock some with your key, then repeat. Same for other side.

Electrical guys help! I replaced the door lock switch that I broke, but still no dice. The car will not lock using the door locks or key from outside. I've tested the solenoid, switch, relay box. The control box is "clicking" when I push the power lock button in either direction, but it will only unlock the car. What am I doing wrong? Suggestions???

Which switch is telling the car if the door is open or closed? Is it the cam type switch at the top of the door frame or the push button one below that (that controls the interior lights)?
