Doing Brakes

Did a search and couldn't find this, but if you replace the Calipers/rotors and pads on a Supra (front and rear), if you overtorque the calipers, will it cause the rotors to warp?

Curious because the owner of the 90 I just bought said that was why the front brakes shudder when stopping. Definitely new rotors on it and rebuilt calipers from what I can see, but I am wondering if I need to look at other possibilities or if I should just see if I can have the rotors turned and then setup the brakes properly (proper torque...).

Never seen that.

Rotors could be warped out of the box tho. Parts guys don't care what happens to them.

I think he was referring to this:

"Another important tip for all MA-60 cars is to be sure not to over tighten the wheel lugs. The factory torque spec is 55 foot/pounds, always torque to this value. I have seen Supras where the wheels lugs were torqued to very high values 140 foot/pounds, this can cause rotor distortion resulting in brake peddle pulsation. I always torque the wheel nuts with a torque wrench." (Reg Reimer)

Thats in regards to a MKII, so I think he was confused. Thinking the brake shudder will have to be bad rotors on the front, will see if I can re-turn them or just replace them. Slotted rotors, have to see where he got them from? Possibly cheap ebay knock-offs?

Any recommendations on a good OEM replacement if I can't turn them? (the shudder is pretty severe and the guy did the work himself obviously without much knowledge, so I may just have to go to square 1 and redo it all just to be safe)

Since it's a floating calliper, there's no way that over-torquing the calliper would cause a warped rotor.

Brake judder isn't usually warped rotors anyway, particularly not with a floating calliper. It's possibly a very bad job with bedding in the brakes, which can do that. I had brake judder with bad wheel bearings on the van. Probably worth getting a front end inspection done.

Actually now that I think of it (and the simple fact that I actually asked for advice.. lol) I will take it in to the experts..
The one thing I really despise doing is fudging brakes. I will redo them on any car except mine. Its a simple task really and a proper "burn-in" is fairly simple (and enjoyable) to do anyway, but the MK3 brakes are so OEM godly as they sit compared to my other vehicles I usually take the wheel off and just sit there saying "I am not worthy!"...
(maintenance is one thing.. solving this I will just leave to the big boys)

Alot of aftermarket rotors are warped of the box. When I did use aftermarket rotors I cut them before I used them... and shure enough it didnt cut straight like a new rotor should.
