I paid more for my first supra in about the same condition. I would buy it, fix it, clean it, and ride it till it died...then part it out.:biglaugh:

easy now, that same one you speak of has died and come back, dont kinx it yet

a lot of people are telling me it wouldnt be good for a DD. I dont know what to do now. lol :nono: I'll probably just offer him a little less and see what he says and take it just for shits and giggles. :biglaugh:

If I wanted $500 for a car, I would ask $800 for it. You should consider this before getting all giddy about the prospect of buying the car for less than what it is worth.

The seller evidently invested some money and effort on this car and then gave up. Chances are there is a very good reason why it remains a project. If it turns out that the car is going to take more (skills, tools, time and money) to make reliable then what you are capable of providing then buying the car is not a good choice even if you are successful with a low-ball offer.

Finally, if you "don't know what to do now" that means you are probably in over you head. At the very least, you need to find out more about the car and get some knowledgeful help.

do it man, i paid 700 for the black one i have knowing all i wanted was the motor. get me some closer pics of the rust and ill let u know how much for a fresh coat of paint. from what i can see the rear wheel well, pass door, front fender, and rocker panel all have rust. it'll take a lot of work to fix it, unless its only surface rust.

oh and this is the car i sent u the link of, I've talked to him on the phone a couple of times. if i remember right he said it wouldn't run because of a problem w/ the factory alarm. i bet it wont run cuz those POS blue rubber lines collapse @ the 1st sign of vacuum.

downside.... its not a targa. :(

so for now, just try to get some pics of the rust spots, if u go to look at it see if it'll crank, if it clicks, or just doesn't make any noise. this will give us a basic idea on wrong w/ it.

good luck on your neverending supra search. i'd sell u the black one in a heartbeat if it had a front end lol.

I say if you have any time/money to devote to another car, whether it be for a project or dd, offer him 500.

You can hardly go wrong for 500. You should be able to get a couple hundred simply recycling the metal from the head and block and parting small stuff out.

I would love to find a cheap, half-running supra to play with. :)

The car looks alright for $800.

But check the car for rust, just by looking at the engine bay I can see that there is alot of rust. Id check the rest of the body first.

Well i went and checked it out, i do have the time to put into it so im probably going to pick it up next weekend. There is some rot on the wheel wells but that will be taken care of. And i was going to ask some people on here if they would have an idea what i could do about the factory alarm making the car not start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

i dont see any wires cut on the AFM there might be a broken one though but i dont think that will keep it from starting... if it is the alarm you could get a push button start switch from checker or something for relatively cheap. just hook it up...turn the ignition on and push the button and fires right up (hopefully atleast) =)

well i still got all the electronics and wiring from the 87 which i cant use so if it is a wiring problem we should be able to fix it asap.

and once again, did ya try starting it? i just wanna know if you heard the click from the relay in the kickpanel or not. that would rule out a few things.

yea the one for the alarm, it basically just bypasses it so the car will start even if the alarm is activated. im not 100% on this but from reading up on it u might have to delete the switch @ the bottom of the clutch pedal. only downside to this is, if you try to race the car you wont be able to because it will fail tech because of that.

just make sure before you do anything else make sure the battery has juice.
