Well, sorry about that. As I said I used the large size nitrile vacuum caps available from most parts stores. Plenty thick and work fine. Basically the same part as the right side OEM cap but come in different sizes. Never had a problem...

With my 2JZ, I also have 1 small port which I am using a vacuum cap on. I bought a 2nd coolant pipe, so that I can chop that piece off and have it welded shut.

I've also thought about pressing/squeezing it shut, then using some of that metal stuff that you can mold together to fill/close it permanently. Just not totally confident in using that material to shut off the fluid/port yet.

no worries, misinterpreted a comment from the other thread i guess.

my comment in the other thread was based on the fact that I sandblasted the shit out of the lines, and didn't blast through a plated or coated layer (if there was electroless nickel or zinc, i'm fairly certain I would have gone through it). 1 year later, i've yet to see any evidence of oxidation or scaling. I might have to chop up my spare tube now to prove myself wrong.

Sorry, I try to use more straightforward words here than in my daily work...insert oxidize for rust if you want to get more specific.

Huh? I poking fun at Zum. What's your beef?

Edit: Ah, I see. Had to go back and look at the thread. I dunno what to say except the mounting tabs are clearly steel (aluminum would be a poor choice in that application) and since aluminum can't be brazed or welded to steel the pipe must also be steel. That and there are many ways to corrosion proof steel leaving several other options besides aluminum so why the "if it was steel it would rust" comment? I would have thought someone of your expertise and experience, someone who uses terms like "rust" (odd word choice for an engineer btw), "correct filler", and "procedure", would already know these things.

Btw that didn't make me feel good either. Should it have?

Basicly doing the bypass for the throttlebody and ISC? Loop the line, don't cap it.

why would i want to loop it? it would make it a pain in the ass to remove and install with that pipe still intact
