Does anyone know how quick a gt40 spools??

I always hear that the newer gt's spool a lot quicker then the basic "t" models, but how much quicker? How would a gt40 (67 or 88) spool on a stock redlined, bpu supra using a .81 a/r housing? Would it lag alot? I'm looking for a good drag turbo and I cant find enough specs. about these. Plus man people dont run them.

Would the GT4067 be a better buy hands down, even though its more $$ then the GT4088?? I heard rumors that the gt4067 pushs more air then the gt4088 @ the same psi, true? Would their spool up times be the same or better? Like I said in the future I'm going to hit around 500rwhp on CA pump gas! (or the closest I can get)

Thanks Ken

Ken: Were awaiting a couple of our Test Guinea Pigs getting their 4067's going to see how they behave on a 7M, on paper it's an awesome combination and "should" work really well!

If you're concerned with spool maybe a 3540R with a .82ar would be a better choice?

IJ... can you give me a ballpark figure of how long it takes to build 10 psi on a gt35r?

even though im a believer in DBB technology, it's still hard to wrap my head around the fact that a huge turbo CAN spool before 4k rpm.

thats really not that bad at all!! i would probably go with a slightly smaller turbo altogether (there is a gt30r, right? whats the difference in compressor wheel size?) and a slightly smaller a/r....

man i wish i had money :(

Yep there is a GT30R I have one as well ;)

I think a 3540R with a .82ar is about the perfect match for a stock redline 7M on the street!

OH it is, IT IS!!

Ive been running a 3540r w/ .82 ar for about a week now, and it is insane!! instant spool, and pulls hard up to redline. ive taken it to 7000rpm with no drop yet, but thats about as hard as im going to push it (for now :evil5: )

So a 3540R with a .82ar would be a better choice? Even though I'm trying to make 500rwhp (around that) with 91 pump? I dont want to become a dyno queen but I'll like to run 11's @ 2900ft. I would like to run high 11/low 12's on pump.. If I could hit the goal without 500rwhp then so be it...

Also IJ I'll just like to know since your car does spool quick with a smaller turbo but with a larger A/R ratio, if this gt40 would spool around the same since it does have a smaller A/R? But since your working on it I'll wait, how long until you think your find out? The cars is mainly going to be a weekend warrior/track car! But ever full moon I'll drive it here and there. So lag yeah its somewhat important, if I could keep it around 3600-4k I'm good.

500 is just a goal which well take alot of time to get.. But I'm not going to give up (even though I never actually started) But like I said it could be 450+ etc pump.. I'll like to be close.
I wish I had your pumps here

Ken: As I said no one that has a 4067 on a 7M is running yet so it's all guesswork!

Wheel diameter amd PMoI comes into play with this so you can directly relate the 2 turbos due to the variables.

I'm "guessing" they're going to be close ;)

I went for the big AR as I always intended to rev my motor fairly hard (8000) and didn't want to choke it off on the top end, my GT30R with the .63 while spooling pretty well off idle did this badly.

SH: LOL I try ;)

I see 1psi between 2200>2400 and 1psi on a 3540 is quite impressive in itself and is usually more than enough for overtaking ;) (most times I don't even need to go positive to overtake)

Nate: Really looking forward to some 7M 4067 results/data!
