YouTube - reving the 2.4 neon
YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.

Ran a 12.7 at 111 with a 2.1 60ft on street tires and a 20shot before the turbo. Currently workin a rwd conversion using a yota R154 and subaru R200 rear end. car is currently a rolling shell. prepped for fabrication and the engine needs the intake/exhaust ports swapped so i can run the srt turbo and indy intake easier. any questions or comments let me know

that conversion he did ruined the car. a neon r/t or acr has incredible handling powers. theyve proven that by dominating scca d class and being extremely competitive in class c. what that guy did was no only throw the telemetry completely off by moving the engine and the weight, but he put no effort into the engine itself. if you noticed the ic pipes went through the rear window??? im not saying what he did was a waste, sure it is a neon engine and rwd, but it could've been done a lot better. oh and fwd is for nancies, even if this neon hugs the road better than most cars. i miss the feel of my old supra. so i figured, id take that amazing handling of a neon, its super light weight, my 350hp 2.4L + 125 shot of spray and make it rwd drive :naughty: my 170hp n/a 2.4L with a 20 shot put me into the 12's cant wait to see what the turbo, meth, e85, and an R154 added does :biglaugh:

ok well i got the eclipse reverse flowing head so my intake mani and turbo inlets/outlets will be facing the right direction. picked up the whole head for only 35 bucks! ive only seen a few neons with the 420A head, so hopefully it doest cause too many problems

I always had a soft spot in my heart for 1st gens, especially after hearing about 4g63 swaps..

hmmm, never seen or heard of anyone doing it. nore does anybody on neons.org know of anybody doing, so it seams unlikely. contrary to popular belief, neons and eclipse dont have the same engine. a neon has a similar engine to the n/a eclipse which has the same block but a revers flowing head that can be cross compatible with some work. the 4g63 is not even close to the same as a 420A or EDZ(neon) engine and it is just as dificult to swap a 4g63 into an n/a eclipse as it is a neon. theres been one awd neon to my knowledge and the was the "neopreza" and im sure you know what that means. now "dazzler" down in boise is building a complete tube frame chassis with turbo eclipse drivetrain and slidding a neon body over the tube chassis, but that isnt really a neon anyway. neons are more similar to an n/a eclipse than an n/a eclipse is to a turbo eclipse. its also funny though a dodge caliber sxt 2.0 has n/a 4g63 in it. which is nothing like the 300hp 2.4T 6 speed setup in the caliber srt4.

\end rant

awww, interesting. yeah guess I misread, but if i remember correctly, it was in Turbo magazine, I'll have to do some sleuthing..

my ex-friend was trying to swap a 4g63 into his spyder, but gave up and kept the 4g64, and bought a turbo eclipse. Of course he crashed it the day he got it performing an illegal u turn on a 2 lane street, hahah...

lol yea, the 4g64 is a pretty useless engine. and the soch is even worse, i hear they can only handle a few lbs of boost. just swap the powder metal rods out of a chyrsler cirrus and you can bump the boost up to 8-10lbs on a good tune.
