hah are you so sure? where did that assumption come from?

i love working on the car when everything is going right. its relaxing, its theraputic. but when its your only fucking car, you dont have enough money, you probably have a small BHG but dont know it yet, those things kind of suck the fun out of it.

if i was crazy rich you better damn well believe i will be torquing every nut and bolt my self with a HUGE smile on my face.

I got really tired of working on my car when it threw a rod, so I bought a truck and took a break from the car. I'm ready to start working on the car again but have no money to buy anything for it :(

Regret is the word! When you get tired of it........do something else for a while, and come back to it. If not, you're Gonna R.E.G.R.E.T. it.

Think about it......The money you get out of a broke Supra is not gonna get you very far. You may as well just park it.

I will agree that even IF i was a frigging millionaire, I would do as much of the work on my baby myself as i could...

What's the point in having an awesome car that someone ELSE has done all the work on??

Most peoples' heads hurt after looking under the hood of a Supra. We are different, take pride in it man. And yes there's nothing like the satisfaction of going on a drive when your done. Don't get burnt out, get determined!

yea our engine bays do sort of hurt some peoples heads, in a way they are simpler because the basics are right there and easy to get to compared to other cars. But at the same time when some honda guys look under the hood they just drop their jaws and say fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk thats a huge air filter.

I just dont let the car become my main focus nor do i rely on it 100%, i have always had two cars since i was 17. The supra is just there, if i cant drive it, so be it, it'll come back and i'll enjoy it a thousand times more because of the POS i've been driving before that. Try driving a purple automatic corolla for 2 months and see how motivated you get to put work into your supra.

Whenever I no longer feel like working on it I save up money and pay someone else to do whatever it is I want done. After which I get to enjoy it again and it brings back the nice sense of enthusiasm I find.

:)

First that makes me feel better . I hate feeling like a tool because I had someone else do it for me . Sometimes life just gets in the way and I dont have time or I just don't know how to do it .

I just spent 3000 on a swap in Aug. Another 1000 to get it running some what stable, and 515 on a new fluidyne radiator . Now the head gasket needs to be replaced  . I am at a loss I seriously thought of sell her and getting a mk4 , but I wont . I will fix/get fixed the head gasket , turn up the boost , and break it again . Then I will bemoan my life and the supra gods and repeat.

The defination of insanity is doing the samethings over again and expecting different results

yep been there done that... just want the damn car to work continually...

working on the supra sucks when you do it all the time. It's nice to have everything working 100% but I Can't say I have had EVERY thing 100%

No worries. I don't have a problem with paying someone to work on my car. Working and going to school all week leaves me with 2 days at the end of the week to chill out. Alot of times, I don't feel like getting dirty and sweaty. Having someone else do that is worth my money.

My car sat for over a year without touching it. However during that year I bought over $6,000 in parts for the car, which added up to one nice big pile of motivation. Once I started working on it, it was a blast for the first year, then at that point the entire car was in pieces and it looked like such an insurmountable task, it sort of deflated me. I remember at one point thinking that I would never get it finished. However, I would just go out there every night and get more accomplished. It took a total of 3 years for the entier car, including painting it, but now, all of that time was definitely worth it.

I also think the ones that don't need their cars as a daily driver enjoy working on them more because they don't HAVE to work on them, they can work on them at their own pace.
