Do I need an FCD?

Ok I run at 12.5 PSI.

Full hardpipes, Full 3" exhaust, 3" elbow, intercooler. Stock AFM, Stock 440cc Injectors

I am hitting fuel cut. Usually when its cooler outside but it annoys me. I just want to have NO fuel cut whatsoever at this boost level that is all im after.

Can I use an FCD at this level without blowing the motor?

hell yeah. This thing is busting out black smoke pretty good right now. Poping and banging on every shift almost. The biggest cloud of smoke comes when i hit fuel cut. Car pulls hard up until then.

Get a WB and an s-afc, then say "Good-bye" to your FCO woes.

Well yeah. but I was just hoping for a cheap fix. I won't be increasing the boost past 12 1/2 for a long time until I do a rebuild with a metal HG. I was hoping that the FCD would be safe at the this level.

have you tried the afm screw mod? might get you that lil extra room your looking for.

lol yeah. Believe me im not cheap. This car is mint and I use the best parts. But I can't afford a full system right now to eliminate this problem. I basically need any ideas as to how to make it better or eliminate it safely without getting a Wideband, etc. If im stuck then ill live with it for now. As I said 12.5 is as high as i will be going for a long time

Afm screw mod? You mean just take it out more?

Yeah unscrew it out more. It didn't help with mine, but the lexus afm and 550's did. Do you not want to lower your boost a little? I know you don't want to, but maybe it'll help a little. Just trying to help. Good luck.

yeah, i noticed a diffrence. even when i had my ebc. but then again outside temp's changed it a lil here and there.

Just to give you an idea of what happens when you open up that unmetered air hole in your AFM.

I am on a 60-1 CT26 and with that, the FCO should be lower than stock...but with screw out(not completely), I've hit 19psi. I don't RUN on 19psi because although I have new stock fuel parts, I don't want to go crazy until I'm on Lex/550's. Try doing that. :icon_razz

It's not safe to move, remove or bypass FCO in any way without at least an EGT or wideband.

If however you do have at least one of those there are quite a few inexpensive ways to move FCO. An old A'PEXi S-AFC or HKS S-AFR should be fairly cheap on eBay, either will raise your FCO much safer then the FCD. You could also try backing out the AFM screw as mentioned before. Or even porting the stock AFM out if you've got the facilities for that.

Porting out the stock AFM, huh? That brings up a few questions from me.
To get this straight, the Lexus AFM is physically just bigger in the inside? I am, actually, accessible to machinery that would do that type of job, but I didn't really ever think of doing it. Are you aware of any turnouts and numbers that porting the stock AFM can produce? Thanks, Bishop. Once again, you've brought something else up on my mind.

ok im trying the screw within the next few days ill let you guys know how it goes. If not im going with bishops idea of the SAFC. There a guy selling a version 1 fairly close to me.
