If im gonna go 400whp. Or can the stock one be used with a better clutch.

also, what type of clutch is best for street daily driving that wont be strictly on/off but can still hold the torque?

At 400+ horsepower, i would be looking into getting the best possible stuff for your engine. Not reusing stock old pressure plates! Thats jsut my opinion though! :icon_bigg

Stage 5 is a clutch. Im no expert in clutchs, but i havn't heard many people at all using the stock pressure plates at 400+ horsepower!

Would it hold? Maybe.

Would i take that chance? No.

Clutches are rated by torque BTW.
Spec clutch kits use a stock PP and many of those are rated to well over 400 ft.lbs.
My Spec stage 2 is rated to 460 ft.lbs. and the pedal feel is no different than stock.

So its just an upgraded clutch then?

spec supposedly does something to the fingers on the pp to make it stronger and provide more clamping force. there has been much speculation about this but no straight answers. i should be about there soon (400rwhp) and i run a spec 3. next time i will be going with a stg 2+ as its a better feel plus i think i broke a spring on the stg 3....

So it sounds like spec 3 is too stiff and stage two is the closest to stock feel there is and can hold the power we are talking about. What kinda price tag on a spec 2 kit and where to purchase?

if i were u id get a act PP.
and then a spec 2 disk or w/e disk u want in that matter
IMO thats a good combo.
but if u dont have the money a spec 3 shud be good for you.

To me once spec gets close to its max Tq people always seem to blow it.
if your serious about 400+hp/tq i'd do more research on clutches or save up money.
im shooting for 450+ and i have this
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pri...tch/Clutch_Kits/part/Bronze_-_Supra_MK3_Turbo
holds 600+ tq and streetable on the3 stop and go traffic and DD. Get that Act PP better IMO. RPS is very heavy and i hear annoying if you drive in traffic.

here is the site shud be the cheapest for spec
http://www.jscspeed.com/mk3/mk3_index.html

check 935 motorsport and check prices. You can get the disk it self from rob @ 935 im not sure if JCS speed will let you.

I think for your goals the stage 2 would be the best choice. AFAIK the stage 2 and 3 use the same PP but the stage 3 is a 6 puck disc and the stage 2 is a full faced kevlar disc. So the stage 2 makes for smoother engagment and longer disc life, as well as holding up to 460 ft.lbs. (Stage 3 is rated to 520 ft.lbs)

As far as the PP fingers being upgraded...I don't think thats true. My PP that came with my Spec stage 2 kit has Toyota stamped on it just like any PP would from the factory. The only difference is that it was painted blue. I didn't notice any difference in pedal pressure so I am inclined to believe that there is no difference.

And I bought my Spec stage 2 kit at www.jscspeed.com thats the best price I found.
