Yes it can be fixed...if you have enough time, send it to Driftmotion since they offer a repair service specifically for ECU's or sometimes you can get lucky and a local electronics repair place (for tv's etc) can do the job for ya.

HAHAHAHA

That's a joke, right?

Radioshack - "You've got questions! We've got blank stares!"

I don't remember the last time anyone in radio shack had any idea what I was talking about, when looking for electronic components :3d_frown:

its not hard to navigate through the store to find what you want.. 95% of the staff in any retail store has no idea about anything they sell

oh i meant that they sell what he needs (usually) to replace that cap... its how igot my ls400's gauge cluster back up. the cap issue on the ecu was very similar on the ls400's clusters issue. i never imply to ask someone else unless i directly imply it ;)

stores, you have to understand, learn from the customers when selling stuff (or they provide training that employees usually do half-assed). if noone comes in asking about it well they dont really know what they are talking about. when i worked in retail the only person i ever knew that would research about the stuff he was selling was about video games... and at radioshack they sell a lot more stuff that costs much more than these caps they would rather sell. they arent going to spend time researching stuff they prolly only make 20$ a month off of :p

You would think that they would hire someone with at least a basic electronics background to work in an electronics store, though... anyway, off topic - yes, Radioshack should be able to get the cap you need. Unless you are fairly talented with a soldering gun, though, I would send it to Aaron @ Driftmotion.

Cool. Someone else has the same problem as me. My car was doing the same thing, and I opened up the ecu and have a leaky cap aswell. Send your ecu to DM.

its really not that hard.. its not like its small surface mount caps or anything.. iirc they go through the board so rather easy..

It IS easy - to someone that knows what they are doing. Believe me, I'm in charge of the PC Shop (it's also a class) so I get to see the fun people with very minimal soldering skills have with PCBs :3d_frown:
