For some reason, my car likes to die on very rare occasions when i stop, when ever that happens i notice that my gauge lights are dimmer than they should be, headlights too. after starting the car everything seems to be back to normal, it takes a bit for the lights to stop dimming when the motor goes back to idle though. That coupled with the idle issue i have( thinking not enough power to the coil packs and ignitor) and the fact that the battery is brand new, leads me to think it's an issue with the regulator on the alternator, or possible something related. has anyone had this issue or any ideas?

Check the voltage with the car idling with a DVOM.. WIll tell you if the alternator is good.. Unless the voltage is REALLY low.. I have had mine at like 9.5 volts and the car was still idling.. Do you have any check engine lights?

No lights, until the motor dies when i stop of course, dont' know if that throws a code or now, i need to get under there with a meter and check, though i've had both the alt and battery tested twice at AZ and they tested ok. I've never had it happen unitl the cars being driven and it only seems to die at stop lights in the middle of the 4 lane through town :: angry ::

Got new leads to put in this Friday, hopefully that fixes the issue, I wondered if it may be because of the obscenely powerful amp(by my standards 1500w to two subs is massive) but i still have issues when the system is disconnected. If replacing these cables doesn't work can anyone recommend a good alternator for a car with a decent system in it?
