Well I am somewhat confused on where the catch can is suppose to go because I have seen pictures of it installed on the exhaust and intake side. Can anyone please clear this up for me? Also does anyone have pictures of the DM or similar catch can installed on the 1JZ stock twins.

It is better for a catch can to be installed on the intake side of the motor, the less heat, the better.
+1 If the oil/air going into the catch doesn't cool enough, the oil will not condense in the catch can and continue on. Mine is between the firewall and my cruise control module.

If you click the middle pic in my sig, you can just see it in front of the right hood strut. I modified the stock hard pipe and used the same piping for the return. I cut and braised closed the underside two outlets on the pipe. Kind of a short description, hopefully, you get what I'm saying. I can take pics later, if you'd like.

i think he means what port on the valve covers. there is one on the exhaust side going to the intake and one of the intake manifold side going to the intake manifold

You definitely want it mounted to have the inlet to catch can going to the ex. cam valve cover and the other side back into the intake pipe.

These guys can get a little meticulous at times, as can I. The catch can mounting location just has to provide decent cooling, nothing crazy. It doesn't necessarily have to go on the other side of the motor. But.. if you can't insulate it from the heat well enough, then they do have a good point.
