Currently collecting parts for my 89 N/A to do a NA-T conversion with GTE electronics.

I already have some of the OEM intercooler pipes. And I was just wondering if anybody has had success with the EBay DIY universal intercooler piping kits? Reason being, I can't seem to find a good set of aftermarket hard pipes for the MK3 Supra for the right price and I really don't want to use stock pipes and intercooler. Being that I am running a GE engine, I'm not going to be over 10psi on the stock CT26.

So, should I get the EBay universal DIY intercooler piping kit?

I also plan on getting a XSPower FMIC and selling the oem intercooler. I can weld small things like brackets and stuff to mount the intercooler that but as far as making my welds air tight and pretty to make piping...... I'm not THAT good.

Your thoughts?

Well i made my own intercooler piping with a DIY kit i bought off of ebay, its been good so far. Except for the couplers, dont use the couplers that come with the kit, their silicone and they aren't very durable, and the IC pipe of the turbo has poped out a few times. After having a few problems i decided to go with 3 ply couplers. :biglaugh:

You realy cant beat the ebay hard pipes for the price, I got a set on mine with an ebay IC. the couplers will work for a while till you decide to have either pipes welded or better couplers. T -bolt clamps were realy cheap quality but work.

im sure the couplers would probably be fine for stock boost, especially if blobs are welded on if the lips are removed to prevent slipping.

Most of the people dont run stock boost. I actually blew a hole in one of my IC couplers that came with the ebay kit.

the thread creator said he wasn't going to go over 10 psi.
I consider anything under 10 psi stock boost. My responses are directed toward the thread creator as they are a response to his thread.
Its cool that you and others run more than stock boost. Thats not everyones choice though.

CX racing on Ebay sellers the best material in the generic DIY piping. Thicker then most. The couplers are not the best but I run 18psi no problem on my 92' but I run buldge couplers from www.Hightempsilicone.com on my 87'. They sell extremely good couplers. But overall the kits from CX are very weld-able and extremely nice clean bends. My last kit was (2) Straights, (2) 90's, (2) 180's, (2) 45's and cost me $125 shipped in 2.5" with couplers and T-bolt clamps! Can't beat that even if you have to replace the couplers!
