dip stick idle

my dip stick had been popping out for some time but i never thought much of it, just push it back in. well, while a was leaving work i checked everything under the hood because i got the "mysterious" idle problem that i could never figure out.:cry: it was noticeable especially at night but it seemed almost random. so with it running i noticed the dipstick out...again:3d_frown:. well pushed it back in and you could very faintly hear it idle right again!

i must have moved the dipstick in and out 10 times because i couldn't believe it at first:biglaugh:. went inside the shop and got some plumbers tap, wrapped a little around that bitch and never had a problem since!:biglaugh:

Before wrapping it with tape to hold it in, check your PCV system, make sure it is all clean. If it is you could have a blowby past the rings problem, causing too much pressure in the crankcase. Jamming the dipstick in is the last thing you want to do, you will be building pressure in the crankcase and it will find a way out

Yeah, my car has the same problem, in my case its bad rings.. It consumes some oil. I totally cleaned my PCV system, replaced the Crankcase vent hose($80ish from Toyota :aigo.. still pushes the dipstick out. Its tired.. but it runs good!

The behavior is normal because a pulled dipstick results in pirate air...

I have the same issue... I believe my problem is also rings... previous owner let the car sit for ~8yrs without ever so much as starting the damn thing... I picked it up for $500... fuel pump and a basic tune up and it runs like a champ... however it is slowly showing signs of not liking sitting for so long... progressively using more oil... (only burns oil on initial start for a few seconds and if I'm hard on it... which I can hear a whisle coming from under the hood if im pounding on it... which i believe is also coming from the dipstick tube... completely normal:sarcasm

full front clip is in this cars future... gte build.
