No, the '87 should be a 3.91 - you'll have better acceleration with a lower top speed with the '87 diff in the '89 body (assuming all are stock)

he said he was n/a though, so he'd have a 4.30, so it'd make your acceleration worse considering the underpowered n/a has trouble getting that 4.30 going fast, let alone a 3.91. (no offense to the owner)

just a tip man, if you are looking to be REALLY quick off the line, i am looking to run a 400+ whp setup and i SWAPPED IN an n/a lsd, for the 4.30 gear ratio. They make for AWESOME 60ft times with good tires and well setup suspension. If i were you i'd keep the 4.30 if its' acceleration that you want. Any other available gear is going to take longer to accelerate(as long as you can put the 4.30 to the ground)

is it a 4.30 open diff or a 4.30 lsd? cause dont all n/a's have 4.30's lsd or not?

i ran a 3.91 lsd in my old n/a and it didnt seem to have any real problems getting moving other than it had no turbo.

Do you know if your car was a sport package? If so then yes you have the 4.30 lsd, if not its just a normal open diff. If you just wanna know for sure or if its ever been changed just get under there and look at the pumpkin, there will be a white sticker right above the fill hole bolt and it will say LSD ONLY in red letters. And IJ, i thought the 1g differentials were chassis specific? Just asking. And i think he wants to go turbo too, and if he plans to put down any numbers 4.56's on the street will bee a sheer spinfest lol

I could swear I've read somewhere that the g series don't bolt up in the m series and i think j series too....but hell....i could be very wrong.

I come from a land down under
"G series" in this case denotes the gear size and carrier NOT the G series engines, a bud has a Soarer that underneath is a Mk3 suspension wise and at the moment has a 4.56:1 in it and I've given him my old 4.3LSD to bolt in once it's been reconditioned.
