I have seen al lot of supras with different swaps 1j's,2j's then there was 1uz cuz they wanted mor displacement and now i saw in the build up forum a guy that did a I6 4.2 vortec engine and i tink its fuckin cool but i was thinking what about the 1GR-FSE from the tacoma a 4 liter v6 aluminum block and head forged rods 240hp 280 torque and its seems it ca make good power with a couple of upgrades,i pretty sure its a light engine very reliable and did you ever ear the sound of those x-runners and dont forget the trd bolt on supercharger.wha do you guys think??? i would like to know your opinions.

Its an interesing engine, and it has a trd roots SC kit so they've seen its capacity to take the boost. The only reason I'd use one over the more proven 1uz would be that it would likely accept a manual tranny without as much fuss. That said the 1uz's are alot more available and cheaper; either way you're going to get into a fair ammount of custom parts though likely moreso with the 1gr than the 1uz unless you've got the funding to buy the trd SC kit.

if you want displacement you could get a 4.7l 2uz....would probably be int he same weight ballpark as the stock 7m.

2uz's are Iron blocks aren't they?

If so it's going to be heavier than a 7M but the weight is further back so the balance is going to improve.

I ear ya about 1gr's availability but it would be intersting to know te weight of each engine cuz its all about balance more power is nice but you wanna cut more weight since its one of the mk3's weakness, right?

its heavier than a 7M but lighter than a 2jz, plus the car as a whole will be better balanced than the 2jz with all other things being equal as the V configuration is more compact plus the cylinder heads will be lower as well.

only thing with any xUZ swap is getting an affordable clutch/bellhousing adapter since the current market price for one is ~$1000 with flywheel/clutch/slave/adapter.
