Different sound since IC and IC Piping install.

So ever since i got my full 2.5 IC hard piping and my Sparco replica IC, ive noticed different sounds. When ever I boost say round 6 PSI or higher (around that PSI im not sure) I hear a pssshh ch-ch-chh sound when i shift gear. This is compression surge right? And also if i boost I can here a slight whistling sound and at high boost ill hear a clear air whistle sound, like if the By pass valve was leaking.

The whistle air sound I use to here it before i did the IC pipin/IC mods, ever since i raised the boost level. So i really dont think its a boost leak. It also seems to hold boost fine......

Is it time for an aftermaket BOV?

sounds about right. time to upgrade BOV now. don't sweat the shims.

Leave the shims in.

You'll be upgrading turbos soon enough anyway.

Shims = best bang for the buck for the supra, I'd also keep them in. Sounds like a time for a BOV upgrade.

Yeah I tried to take the shims off once, and the wastegate spring was sagging, so I just left the shims there. But yeah ill replace my wastegate with an extra one I have on my other turbo and ill buy a MBC and a BOV recirculated back to the intake. Thanks guys...

Noone really answered this part of your question if its a whistle its likely just the sound your turbo makes when it spins that fast. as long as you have good oil and enough oil pressure you should be fine. If its more of a whine/howl. It could be a death whine which is an indicater of the demise of your turbo in the near future. Search youtube for death whine, its a very distinct/erie sound. Hopefully your hearing a normal whistle. also if you have an aftermarket intake pipe (before turbo) it will magnify the sound of your turbo especially the metal ebay ones.

Nah its not the death wine, ill just upgrade the BPV and change out my wastegate and see what happens.
