I just zapped my old turbo fins, so I replaced that CT with one a buddy had locally. When we were comparing the two, we noticed a little logo on the exhaust housing that neither of my two turbos had (one from mine, another old one from my Dad's)

I didn't think much of it until when I was putting the new one back on the car, the support brace from the motor mount ( I think ) ran into the wastegate arm.

Kinda wierd considering the other turbo fit great with the brace installed...

What's the deal with 1: the logo and 2: the difference that causes the support brace not to fit correctly?

It has a CT26 compressor housing though, its identical to the turbo I pulled off my engine... the compressor fins also look identical to my turbo I pulled off...

Hmm.

IIRC, Turbonetics did release a high-flow version of the stock CT26 exhaust housing. I'd pop the compressor cover off and measure that wheel!

It might be possible that you have a turbonetics turbine housing. There is no telling what specs you have on the turbine/compressor unless you take it apart and measure it. The turbine is a truly a turbonetics one without a doubt.

aha, I wish I posted this before I installed the turbo :p

I did notice that there were no cracks by the wastegate. Another interesting point. (when I say no cracks, I mean I did not see even a hint of a silver of a crack)

Ok ok, the bullshit stops here boys.

Chances are, thats NOT A TURBONETICS turbo charger, but rather just a turbonetics turbine housing.

How do I know?

I HAD ONE.

It was an interesting idea by Turbonetics - make the ct26 with a modified compressor wheel (upgraded wheel) flow more with a larger A/R exhaust housing.

From my exerience with one, it did nothing more than make it lazy.

Smooth, lazy, non punchy boost.

Hmmmmmmmm when I first got my car I pulled the engine and did a refresh. While the turbo was off I noticed the cracks in the housing so got my hands on another housing. When I put the turbo back on I had the same problem with the actuator arm hitting the brace. Will have to look at mine tonight after work. I replaced just the housing so my turbine wheel is stock but possibly in a larger housing??

Just got done looking at mine

Here is a pic of the housing that is on the car, it has AN13HT28 cast on it??

As you can see in the pic I have had to shim the brace by about 10mm to stop it fouling the actuator arm.

This is my spare turbo, as you can see the brace clears nicely without shims.

Here is the housing that I took off, it has noting on it. As does my other spare turbo.

But they both have 42010 cast on them, but the one on the car doesn't

http://mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=282510&highlight=ceramic+coat this is The Official CT series turbo thread on the MR2 board. It seems toyota had ALOT of variations of this turbo. They even had a magnesium compressor cover specifically for racing
:love::aigo::naughty:.

edit: unless you are a member of this site I dont think you can view this thread. For intrested people. toyota made a ceramic and iconel turbine wheel, along with the regual turbine wheel ( these went into several MR-2's and alltracs, with the twin entry turbine housing) I wonder how hard , IF possible, would it be to swap to a supra turbine housing. They also have some super dope turbos for the group a celica and corrolla wrc race cars. Not to mention the Group A supra ct26 which is diffrent than the regular supra ct-26. The groupA trubos however are not for the thrifty. They'll set you back a couple of G's
