WOW... I wouldn't have expected THIS much responce from the thread! lol
FYI... Yes, I'm low on cash and in a world of hurt... My CT-26 turbo is shot and Yes, I could just get a replacement and go "Stock Tried and True"... but my thought on the matter, if I'm gona dump money into it, and can get 25lbs of boost for $100 more by doing it now... hey... I might as well go for it!
Some things that I have learned from this whole thing... I keep seeing a LOT of comments on the RPM diffrence of Diesel compared to the Supra... The turbo could give a rats ass less as to how fast the motor is turning... the only thing the turbo cares about is how much Airflow is comming out. EG, a 6ltr (Gas or Diesel) spinning at 2500rpm is going to move 15,000 ltr of air per min. Our motor will push the same amount of air through the hot side of that turbo in the same amount of time while we are running at 5,000rpm.
One of the problems I'm running across is that (as someone pointed out in an earlier post) WASTEGATE... Most of the Diesel turbos I'm running across don't have em'! WTF!?!? Due to the size of most of these things, I don't see any way to install one between the manafold and the turbo... bringing in another radical idea... Put on your thinkin' caps folks!
A Second BOV that is Preasure (not vacume) activated... Have it open at 14psi (before I hit fuel cut off) and cycle back into the intake (after the MAF) to avoid throwing off my Air to Fuel ratio. She would be loud as all hell, but once I upgrade to get past the Fuel Cut Off, I should be able to easiely increase my boost to what ever the Diesel was running, maybe even Higher if I can get a turbo from a 5 ltr Deisel)
So... now the question is... how to adapt a BOV to work on preasure? Is there ANYWHERE on our motor that still has vacume while we are under boost? If so, use the stock wastegate controler to open a valve and alow vacume to a cheep BOV from a salvage yard should do the trick.
(Are there still any questions as to where I got my handle? lmao rotf)
