Did the Head Bolt fault affect N/As?

Yea, I've had 2 NA motors loose the head gasket.
I think the "JDM" motor I bought had been way overheated, as it was pumping coolant out the overflow.
I just kept driving it, till it died last month. (stupid I know)
When I tore the head off, there was a hell of a crack between the exhaust valve and plug. I think the crack was the issue, as the HG did'nt show any "push" from compression or anythng. It was nasty though, as everything in the motor was nasty from exhaust getting into the water jacket.
