#1: 150
#2: 140
#3: 115 added oil to the cylinder 155
#4: 130
#5: 140
#6: 140

After the comp test, I started her up and she rumbled to life... Smoked like a mother too... Im HOPING it was just burning off the oil I put in the cylinder...

The car's running like shit... After I put her back together, I took her for a drive, and I cant get past 10psi... It's running/idling like shit... Feels like I have a massive boost leak, but I cant find it... I can hear it, but cant find it... All my couplers are tight... Looks like I have an exhaust leak, but its hard to pin point... I can hear it, and when the car was smoking bad, I could see smoke around the manifold... Feels like air is puffin out before my wastegate... Could THIS be my boost leak? Too much gettin by so my turbo cant spool?

I swear, if I miss this years Tampa meet because of this shit, Im going to shoot this car! LAST year, the day BEFORE I was to drive down to Tampa, I got a bhg on my last supra...

I need help...

Thanks,
Jake

oh yeah and then theres my poor neglected poor excuse of a supra car.....

but yeah man if that compression jumped like that with the wet compression test....it seems to me like the ring for that cylinder is fucked.... that sucks man.....

So what the consequence of running high boost on that piston?

If I come down to Tampa, will you help me pull it and rebuild it?

Well, YES... If you guys would help me, then hell yeah... I dont think it would be a bright idea trying to run 25 pounds of boost with a loose ring... But here's the deal: the plan was to come down on the 18th, hang at the meet on the 19th and 20th, then stay through the whole week to hang with all you guys and Tamara's family for Thanksgiving, then coming back to FWB the following monday... So if you would wanna help me pull and rebuild, I'll come down, if ya cant, then Im not going to come down... I dont want the problem to get worse, or blow out on the way down there, or on the way back... I just know we could all do it in a weekend, if we did it together...

What do ya think?

the problem would be finding the correct parts....youd need a lot of misc shit and i dont know how much of it we would be able to run down in time....mainly the fact that the rings are probably a specific size for your pistons...which arent stock toyota....so i dont know how we could find those....etc etc...

plus where would we do it at? lol

it COULD be done...but it would take a massiv effort lol

Jayson, the pistons are .020 over... I have a place to stay, so we can stay as long as we need... And Im sure Kelly woulndnt mind helpin me out... I know it would be an effort, but its not like I would sit back sippin tea while evryone worked... You KNOW I can get my hands dirty, so I'd be right there with you guys... Plus, I would love to get my hands inside this motor and do it RIGHT... I just need your help man, I cant do it alone... help a brothuh out... :D:D:D

Man WTF dude you can't have just tuned that beast and now have a problem who am i going to look upto all the Ghetto supras in pensacola. BTW my Fuel pump is whats keeping my car from running i think that is what caused the head gasket to go out it was leaning out because of low gas pressure. Hey if it is the F'ing rings i can get you a complete motor with 60K for 250 you pick up I know this is a solid engine cause the car it was in ran prefect until we trailed it and the other car caught fire and destroyed both cars. I did not use it cause i just want my NA to run till i can 1JZ it.

Don't think it would have come up as much with Oil if it were a BHG Jake...

:werd:

jake for this to happen you would basically have to start getting parts now...i dont know exactly what you are looking to do though... are you just wanting to pull it out and replace that ring or are trying to do a full rebuild or something?

Damn, that sucks to hear jake. I was looking forward to seeing it in a couple weeks. Maybe with some luck I'll still get to huh? I really just wanted to ride in it so that I'd know what I'd have to beat to be the biggest dyno queen in NW florida (when I'm home anyway). :biglaugh: Just kidding with you man. Good luck.

Right there you know that it’s most likely your lower end.

When I change the oil on my motorcycle, if I get just a drop or two on the header, it will smoke more than you would probably imagine (considering it’s only a drop or two). Sometimes just a bit of oil can make smoke come out of the bike for blocks of riding. A little oil smokes a lot. I’d bet it was indeed the oil you put in your cylinder. Most people really don’t know how much oil will smoke for just a little amount.

As another check to make you more certain of what you have, do a leak down test. Being that I am the way I am (slight case of OCD), I would do a leak down test. I bet you will find that if you open up the oil cap during the testing, when you get to #3 you will find that there will be air coming out of the oil cap. If you put your hand over the filler hole, you will probably be able to feel it more than with the other cylinders. I am a fan of leak down testing. You can sense what is going on (hear and feel the escaping air).
If you decide to go that route, here is a write up on a cheap and thoroughly explained way on how to do one: http://supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2229

Even without a leak down test, you may be able to feel air coming out of that hole if the oil cap is off, while the engine is at idle. If you have a damaged piston, ring/s, or cylinder wall, the combustion gasses will go to the crank case which will have the same pressure as the under the oil filler cap. Give that a try, as it only takes a minute to check. On some machines, you can’t open the filler cap without having oil fly all over. I did it in idle and did not have oil flying all over with my Supra.

OK... Did the test again today after running the car to operating temp... Unfortunately, none of the numbers changed...

So I took some advice, and put Rislone oil additive in there, and ran the motor... Did the compression test again, and all my numbers were about the same, however, #3 jumped up to 135 and #4 jumped up to 140... The rest stayed between 140 and 150...

Comments? Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks,
Jake
