I bought a yellow 87 supra almost 2 years ago for 300 as a parts car. No title didnt think anything of it. Today cops show up at my house with a lady and a title for the car. It's still here but damn it's been here almost 2 years and she wants it now?! Is there anything I can do because i was fixing it back to a driveable state.

Was she the one who sold you the car? Does she know who sold you the car?

If the answer is no to these questions then take any of value out of the car, engine, trans, etc. then give back and say you bought it that way.

Unless this works out I think your screwed. Strip what you put on off it before they take it if they havent already. Show proof of your purchase, but get everything off it first even if you think you may get it back.

For future references: I always tell people, never buy a car unless it comes with the title. If they dont have it they can obtain a new one from the registry. always check that the vin on the title matches the vin on the car. People sell titles with cars that they dont belong to then take the car back, and turns out you really bought a scrapyard car.

i have seen this happen to so many ppl proff of purchase pictures and title are the best thing you can do this will most likely hold but if you had it for 2 years you should have plenty of pics and some kinda proff i used to do machanics leans all the time but you deff need proff on what you have done cost of parts labor cost and also proff how long you have owned said vehical

Luckily the engine and trans were already out of it. It's completely gutted. She said shes been paying on it for the last 6 months. she lives 5 minutes from my place but never noticed the car (in absolute plain view next to the road). I mean i really could care less but i had no notice and she wanted it right then and there. Cops gave me until 11am tomorrow to get whats mine off of it.

Just gonna throw it out there, If shes gonna take it, and you want this particular shell, ask her if she will sell you the title.

Ok, I'm interested in who you bought the car from and what relation is it to her? As for now, the way I'm seeing it, her taking a totally gutted YELLOW supra shell out of your yard is doing you a favor. There are a ton more you can acquire legally.

Your words:: "IF" that's big "IF" from what I can tell he doesn't anything supporting that he has had for two years. I know this sounds like an ass thing to say but, I don't even think reciepts supports edividance that he owned the car, unless he bought parts and or service for specfically for the Supra. I mean you can't rent a "Supra"engine hoist. I could be wrong, I didn't read every post on here, believe me, I'd like to see a fellow Supra member come out a head. In her mind, the way she see's it, It's still her car, she has the tile,..end of story. If you strip it,..Your gonna have to return it to the condition that you recieved, unless she can prove the condition before you recieved it. The only thing, at this point that I can tell is that the present owner does have the key to the car ... that would be in his favor, again, I'm not trying to be an ass... Just calling it as I see it....sorry.

Take everything from it if you give it to her. I'm talking wheels, bumpers, lights, dashboard, steering wheel, differential, axles, driveshaft..etc.

What is her logic behind having a title to a car that you've owned for 2 years? Something is missing here...

Guys, zip it with potentially dangerous advice. There's a good chance you're going to get him thrown in jail. If this car is considered stolen, he can be charged with receipt of stolen property. (Not knowing it is stolen isn't much of a defense. No title - no ownership)

There's not enough information here to be telling him "strip it".

To the OP:

  1. How did you come by this car?
  2. Who sold it to you?
  3. What were the conditions of the sale?
  4. Do you have anything in writing?
  5. What on the car is actually yours? (i.e. - didn't come with it)
