Me and the lady get freaky whenever we want and we've lived in our current place since last July. Although yes, we can't get freaky wherever we want but it's not that traumatic. Our landlord has become a good friend of ours, so that makes things even easier. We pick a place to live very carefully and we screen the landlords as well to ensure that our personalities match.

Maybe I just don't value a home as much as others. I enjoy a rather good life where I live, and have thrown several parties where I had 8 people staying for the weekend. I've lived in an apartment for most of my life and I can't stand it. So long as I have my bedroom to myself I'm happy. Then again, in the Marine Corps I shared a room with 1 or 2 people and it sucked. I think the key is to just be very picky about where you choose to live. We looked at 10 homes before deciding on our current place.

The huge issue for me with housemates and share accommodation is that you don't have a choice or a say in who comes into your home.

As Mike has already said, you also lose privacy and have to constantly be considerate of the other people in the house.

Bugger that.

speaking of apartments and such, our landlords are stupid! They only allow one parking permit to each and every apartment....problem is between my wife and I, we had 4 cars(before I sold the supra) two of which we keep at the apartment. Here's the raw deal, I don't know exact numbers but just to illustrate the incompetence of the landlord, say for an example there are 300 apartments. Maybe 450 parking spots, 50 are for visitors/non-permit holders and you have to park in a visitor spot unless you have a permit.

Now wait a minute you might ask me, if there are 450 parking spaces and 300 are used for each apartment and that leave 150 parking spots left, right? Nope! 50 spots are available to people without permits and the other 100 spots are wasted space that I and/or somebody else could park in. Leaves me having to park my car so damn far away from my apartment so my wife doesn't have to walk to and from her car in the dark.

To get back on topic, one of my longtime best friend bought me and my wife the "Dave Ramsey" educational package as a wedding present....good stuff within but we're not doing good as far as good income is concerned.

Glad to hear man. Some companies will try to violate a contract just to see if they can get away with it. (It's unethical, but some still do it.) Once you stand up for yourself they'll usually back down and will do what is right. Good for you! :)
