VW's are built attrociously.
If you go on VWVortex.com you will constantly see people "totaling" their VW's just by hitting the smallest things.
I read about a guy's GTi where he swerved to miss a guy coming into his lane, ran up a curb and back down again. That's it.
Car pulled a little to one side, so he got out to look at the damage.
The door wouldn't open, he had to throw himself against it to force it open, then it wouldn't shut. it didnt come close to lining up.
The roof was badly buckled in like your buddies car, but much worse.

Insurance totaled it. They wouldn't believe that all that happened was that he ran up and over a curb... the damage was THAT extensive...

I'll never own one!

All the stuff on the front was from a little ass tree not even 5 inch around and he hit it at like 10mph and the air bags went off???? I thought you had to be going faster then that??? I could be wrong

Full agreement my brother had a 95 golf and after working on it they are built like shit he got t-boned by a ford f-250 and WOW a tin can the passenger side door was pushed over almost to the ebrake dont believe the hype over VW being so well built they are NOT but the diesels last forever this is one of the only cars you can actually feel a strut tower bar make a big difference!
