Unless your wastegate starts to open - 4psi on a stock setup, whatever you have it set to if you are running a boost controller - it sounds exactly like a stock DP, sometimes with a very minor exhaust leak.

I live in CA and that cops are punks. If I'm driving around town without really boosting at all will this thing be loud? I need it to be quite for the street but still perform at the track.

Oooh...you live in the "Peoples Republic of California". Land of the goose-stepping public defenders. The guys I know over there tell me that if you fart in public, you'll get a ticket! :fart:

Ok really dumb question, what does the first D in DDP stand for, looking through the posts i'm guessing divorced, but have no clue. I have a vague idea but how is a DDP setup different vs the SS turbo elbow and 3 in. dp and exhaust that I have.

Again I feel retarded for asking this.

Thanks

Thanks Grim...so basiclly the smoother air flow accounts for the gain in hp and torque. Those seem like pretty substantial gains though by just seperating the airflow. However, I can see how it makes sense now looking at the pictures. Just never really realized what DDP was before. Wish I would have known this before I spent money on a down pipe and turbo elbow.

Could be worse - I spent money on an elbow, DP, etc, before there even WAS a DDP... so I've spent it twice, and I couldn't even really sell the original upgrades for much to cover the extra cost. :( But the extra performance and 'scare the pedestians out of their sandals' noise makes up for a lot. :D

Kind of sounds like my same situation. I bought my elbow and DP probably 4 years ago. Was the DDP even out then? Eventually I think I'm probably going to shift over to the DDP.

If you take off your stock elbow, you'll see that the exhaust from the wastegate is blocked off considerably as its routed up into the main exhaust and then down through the downpipe. I was actually really surprised/disappointed with Toyota's design. With the BIC ddp, the wastegate exhaust has its own "port" separate from the main exhaust, which dumps straight to the atmosphere. Also, the main exhaust has a much larger diameter outlet which gives you much better flow even when you're not boosing. I guess this is a little obvious if you know anything about the BIC ddp but my point is, If you actually do the install yourself and compare the two elbows, its plain as day why you get such a power/torque gain. Also, as long as you're not boosting, it sounds pretty much stock. So you can keep the thing quiet when you need to. If you're having any doubts about picking up Randy's(BIC) dp, DO IT! You will not be dissapointed at all! However, I'm not sure if it would pass emissions tests. Here in NC, if your car is 1995 or older, you're exempt from emissions testing. (W00t, hello testpipe!)
