Datsun 240z

I'm looking for any information on a 1974 Datsun engine wire harness. I have an all original Z that wont start. Traced it back to the ignition wiring. Looking for a new or good condition engine harness, or info on a company that sells them. Trying to keep it original and not just make a harness, which would be super simple. Thanks for the help.

If its a 74, then its proably a 260z. You need to check out classiczcars.com. Its where you will find out a lot of information if you are trying to keep it original.

turns over but no spark, no juice to coil. Someone tried to rewire the ignition to coil circuit with all black wire at some point. Its also been converted to a newer ignition type. Its a 74 240

Here is a link to donload the FSM's for the S30. You can find the 1974 260Z one there. 240's were only from 70-73. 260z were only made one year in 1974. 280z were from 75-78. I bet your VIN number starts with RLS30... If not, its either a 73 240z or a 75 280z. No such thing as a 74 240z.

Hope this helps. Check your fuses, corroded wiring, and power to coil. Should be getting around 9volts with the ignition in the on position and 12volts when cranking.

I'm so very sorry for the mix up. It is a 1972. Guess that's what I get for taking info from a girl who doesn't know much about the car. I actually went and saw the car now. I believe its been retrofitted with late 70's 280 capacitive ignition. All of the wires from the keyed ignition switch, out the firewall and to the module and coil are all black. I will have to get in there and rewire it. The FSM should help out a lot, Thanks for that..

I've been daily driving my 280z the last two weeks as I fix my BHG and wait for my new Turbo. Man, it feels a lot slower now. Supra has spoiled me. I need to get moving on my L28ET swap.
