It's just tedious, really. It's a lot easier if you pull the front seats. Then pull out the cluster, the glovebox, the little piece that holds the climate control, disconnect the wiring harness from the kickpanel, and remove all the bolts / screws that hold it in, then pull.

After it's all disconnected, getting it out of the car is like keeping 25 feet of greased anaconda off the ground, so more hands is better.

Hopefully the new one you bought has the same mounting points - they didn't change until 91 or 92 when they added the airbag, and even if it's different chances are you can still make it work. Worst case you could go back to the junkyard and snag their support member too.

A perfect description....

I just removed a dash last night, and having the wheel out of the way (either by removing or dropping) is key. I actually prefer dropping it down since it gets the signaling lever cluster out of the way as well and safe(r) from damage.

It is a PITA, but frankly, it is also one the the easiest dashes to remove of any car I've ever had the displeasure of doing the job on. Just go slow, and know when it is ok to apply a little muscle, and when it isn't.
