last night when i was driving in the rain, i took a corner, and all of a sudden my ebrake light went on, my battery light and light to tell me a bulb is out all when on, and when i shut off the car there was alot of steam coming out of the radiator cap.

why did all the lights go on??

Usually, this means your alternator has decided it's life is over.

lol i counldt see before because it was dark and raining. the belt that goes to the alternator and water pump fell off, and now i need to replace my water pump.

Well, there is a silver lining in every cloud, I guess. Waterpump & belt cost less than a new alternator!

Unless just the brushes in the alternator died, which is usually the case. Well, in any that I've seen thus far...

HAHAH, no kidding on those brushes. I had to replace one right after i did the tune up on my 88, driving it after putting it back together and the lights came on. Took it off and apart to see what went wrong. Burnt the brush leads clean off. Replaced it with a duralast from autozone because i had no money for a factory replacement at the time. 100 bucks, not too bad. No problems since.

my alternator died, but my car didnt let me know until it died on a night that it was raining, and just happened to be 2 am about 5 blocks from my house...
