dash Light problem on my brothers car

well it was right after the deck install in my brothers car. The cd player light AND the clock wont turn off (the stock clock) everything else turns off as its supposed to, its just those 2 don't go off. any ideas on this? I am no wiz at all on electrical and the deck was installed by a friend, so i still have to check up that wiring (i posted a bit back and asked for wire colors and told him) but any ideas where to start or what could e the problem? is it maybe just a bad ground somewhere? Any help is appreciated guys.

Have you made sure the ignition cylinder is turning all the way to the off position?

It may be the ignition switch as the Acc position powers 15A Cig. and 7.5A Radio. Test those when the ignition is switched to the off position.

If it's not the ignition switch: Since the clock only has 4 wires running to it I'd start next there. One is a constant ground, then there are 3 12v lines: 15A Cig., 20A Dome, 15A Tail.

Regarding the keyhole light: Does the ring around the ignition cylinder light up when you get in the car? If so check the switch attached to the driver's side handle. Set your dome light so it comes on when the door is open. Close the door and lock the car. Pull up on the driver's side handle. If the dome light comes on it's probably the LED.

I think you may have accidently used one of the illumination wires as a power source wire. Or, you may have used the incorrect wire as ground and broken the circuit for one of the illumination relays.

Some of those circuits will give you a +12 or ground indication with a voltmeter but it doesnt necessarially mean that it is always dedicated to that function.

Play with components to test your circuit if the color doesnt give it away (open/close door, etc)
