As I know everyone already knows, do NOT try and change the LSD oil w/o a pump. I knew this going in, and bought what I thought was a bulb pump, but when it came time to change it tonight, friggin thing didn't work worth a damn, and I already had the old oil out. Lets just say its a damn good thing I had two qts of my redline 75w-90, thought I was actaully not gonna have enough, with the rest of it winding up on the floor.... what a PITA.
As a side note, the fluid that came out didn't look so hot... There was all kinds of "metal soup" on the magnetic drain plug (actually reminded me of that gray anti-seize compund you put on sparkplugs. That and it was very dark. I think this stuff was in there waaay too long... but the car only has 60k on the clock, and I was assured it had been changed before....
Also, one question... should I have waited until no more fluid spilled out the fill hole?? I just kinda let the big gush out, then let it flow for another 2-3 seconds then closed it up. Anything bad gonna happen???
Thanks all.
