Hello guys. I got a BHG on my 7mgte wanting to rebuild, as of now I got a hks intake pipe, 550rc injectors, lex afm, walbro drop in fuel pump, aeromotive afpr, hks super afr, apexi avc-r, Alamo motorsports intercooler and pipe kit, hks ssqv bov and a 3 or 3.5in.mufflershop special exhaust from the turbo elbow down..on the stock ct26 turbo. I would like to make about 250wheel daily driver mode and up the boost to make a max of around 350 wheel.
now the thing is I know I'm close with the mods I got now as the last dyno sheet reads 311 wheel hp. For now I just want to get the BHG fixed and dont have a lot of cash. I plan on using arp studs, oem HG and only getting the head machined, thats it.. Would I be okay with that for my goals??
Also when more money comes my way I would like to make that 350whp with full boost as early as possible with as little boost as possible. What mods/turbo is recomended?

Opinions??? GT2871R or GT2860RS with water to air i/c, Bic ddp, test pipe, nice 3inch mandrel bend exhaust coupled with the other mods I have on my jdm engine with new oem hg and arp studs..

Thanks!! thats the kind of suggestions Im looking for. What range would I have full boost by? And what levels of boost is required for the power Im aiming for? I know those depend on a number of things, just looking for a close guesstimate or some experiance.. I was a N/a guy so would like as little lag as possible..

supposedly the turbo I got is a .60 trim.... I had a look at it and am guessing not haha

My car has a 3.5" exhaust, BIC divorced downpipe, high flow filter, and 2.5" IC hard pipes and I can tell you that I get full boost below 3000rpm. If you have a good intake and exhaust set up the turbo will always spool more quickly :)

Cool. If you don't mind what boost levels are you running and about how much HP? Stock Turbo I'm assuming..

Thanks for the link.. more to look at.. I was wondering I know the bigger you upgrade the ct26 the more lag there is.. most say use the .57 trim ct26 doing some research ive come up with the folowing specs.
* 46 Trim: 41lb/min or 410hp * 50 Trim: 47lb/min or 470hp * 57 Trim: 49lb/min or 490hp *60-1: 61lb/min or 610hp
Wouldnt using a 46 trim yield the best boost response while allowing me to make the power I want with headroom? Cant seem to find out but what is the stock ct26 trim?

Edit* just found some info on some of my questions.. just sharing... still searching

I thought stock was 46trim. you can go 54 trim, but honestly, a .57 trim is a great turbo, and almost everyone loves it to death .

a .57 trim CT-26 is a QUICK spooling turbo and it makes GREAT power for it's small size.

It's a good all around quick spooling turbo that makes 350rwhp. It would fit the bill for what you want nearly perfectly.

And It is what I would recommend.

Ok thanks Jeff, just trying to learn as much as possible... read just read that the stock is 46 trim but alot of people objected saying its not "technically" and whatnot.. it does seem the 57 is the way to go, proven to make the power I want and the dyno charts ive been looking at do look nice.... the difference in lag cant be more than a few hundred rpm between the 46 and a 57....can it?? Did you get the email I sent you?

Gotcha Tekdeus, 15psi(max not daily) should be doable on a stock hg and arp bolts.. should get even better response with more free flowing mods and shorter ic pipes correct?

um, I answered a ton of emails in regards to getting a turbo, and replied to them all, if I didn't reply I must not have gotten it.

PM Me your phone number, and I'll let you pick my brain for a while about turbos, and make sure you have exactly the setup you need to make your goals.

of you can call me (919) 400....9025 (leave message if I don't answer)

I'll chime in here with a couple things.

First, Jeff is a great guy to do business with, I've been very happy and will continue to shop with him.

Second, it is possible to get a turbo that spools *too* fast. You do not want to turn your accelerator into a switch - either on or off, with it being impossible to hold boost at less than full. I had my car set up like this for a while, and it was downright dangerous in a lot of situations. Try turning from a stop, when you need to goose it to make it by traffic, and all you've got on tap is the full 350hp. Doing donuts in the middle of a busy street is a recipe for pain, no matter whether it's accidental or not.

I have yet to see a 7m with one (and I was hoping to be the first, but there was a change in plans), but here's a discussion about the w2a ic:

One off a celica all-track would prolly be too small. but I can't say for sure. BUT if you're hell bend on a W2A intercooler, I have one from an old Cartech 5M-GTE turbo kit. If you could tig weld, then it could be made to fit on the 7M without too much work *wink*. I've been saving it for a turbo 5M-GTE project, but I never ended up doing that project.
