why dont you guys post info to your assumptions?

Camber problems - Any lowering spring will give you increased neg camber.
Uneven tire wear - look above.
Unsafe - Not really. Unless you are talking about the spring not seating properly and coming off the mount, which can happen but usually because you cut them wrong.
Blown struts- AGAIN, any lowering spring will blow old shitty struts and even new oem ones, because their pistons arent meant to travel that low.

Spring rates do increase and becuase they are linear, matched up with a nice strut you can get good performance out of them.

Do what you want but those are the facts as far as i know.

cutting springs can mess with the integrity of said springs. i had a friend that cut his and they ended up cracking. and before anybody says they were probobly old springs, they were only 1000 miles old.

They are linear springs, pretty much everything negative said in this thread is incorrect, if they were progressive coils then ok, but they aren't. Cut them correctly (so they still seat on the perch correctly) and you are fine. Do not cut more than one full coil off, you will regret it as it will be much to low. I had cut mine so that the coil lined up exactly in the same spot, just one coil lower, and the car is low (scrapes on driveways and speed bumps, good thing the stock front lip is so durable, if you have a fibreglass lip, kiss it good bye). Stock size rims/tire combo and the fronts have next to no clearance before rubbing the plastic liners. It is a very agressive stance though, and will therefore require a much stiffer shock.

Get them heated if you want even more improved handling, cut + heated stock coil springs handle better than eibachs.

we cut off my springs and it handled fine it rode a little rough. but it did give it a mean looking stance. the only thing i didnt like was when you were racing with the rearend not lowered any it tends to want to spin more. i guess cause of the shift in weight.

Yeah, I am definately not looking to cut more than a full coil off, also as stated I will be getting eibachs in the next month or so and wanted to see if this would be something worth doing to hold me over....

1000 here 200 there 500 there it adds up. In the end you have a crappy pos with really nice springs lol. Your life is at stake with every mod. Even more so with old parts. And even more so with bad driving.

So in conclusion ... what the fuck do i care, i have coilovers :p

I help a neighbor, cutting 2 coils is to much, but if you cut one and make the top flat, I really dont know how else to descibe the top but as flat, you'll get a pretty good look, as of the back I dont know we just did the front.

hey thread revival :) i hate the idea of cut springs. so... ghetto... its like putting a sock in your cold air intake because you dont want to buy a filter and hope that the socks will keep the water out while letting some air in

One and a quarter coils, and make sure you DO NOT cut the smaller diameter end of the coil spring.

Also, use an angle grinder or a pneumatic grinder/cutter and keep the coils cool with water so you don't heat them up and wreck them. Do not use a torch.
