well 1st you need the car to be in the top shape before you go upgrading turbos. after you have done that there is few options for cheaper turbo upgrades - upgraded ct26 is one or bolt ons like sp61gt or boss series turbos from suprasport. if you have someone that can weld for you it is almost as cheap to get t4 turbo and make adapter or use ss autochrome manifold for it. the only thing you need to do after that is redo downpipe.

anyways after saying all that i would like to point out that this has been discused like 3546 billion times and you would have found the aswer your self if you would have used search button that is located on the right hand side of the top menu. search is your best frien as most thing has been asked and discused many time before

If you think custom supercharging is going to be less expensive than a proper na-t outfit, you're in for a big surprise.

No matter which way you go, going from NA to forced induction is gonna take a huge chunk outa your pocket. I personally would go turbo as you will have tons of ppl on here that can help you out in this area. Of course you could be unique and try the supercharger. I would sugest switching to some of the turbo's accesories (coil packs, ignitor, pistons manifold, etc.) if you do it though.

you may be able to find a complete 7mgte long block with the turbo and everything still on it for around 1k. OR go pick up a 7m turbo with a bhg or something and just take off all of the turbo stuff and put it on your car. That is your cheapest route. Supercharging would be cool but will cost much more than a stock turbo set up.

lets see, turbo for ~$1-2k(prolly do a full 7mgte swap with mhg arps etc.. for this). or custom supercharger for $$$$$$$$$$ hmm, which is cheaper.

Here is my advice, as I've owned a beautiful '88 n/a, sell your n/a and find a good MKIII turbo car. This will save you much trouble and give you fits of trouble for the future! :)

He's got to at least keep the rear end outa the n/a though if it's got lsd. Gotta love those shorter gears.

meh, i hate them, had 4.30's stock in my mkii. all i did was smoke tires through 4th. now got a 3.727, its MUCH better

Turbo car...

N/A car would like the 4.30's more.

My MKII has 3.7's too. Glad you like it. I hope my 1JZ does too.

yeah, but he was saying sell the n/a, buy the turb, and keep the n/a lsd. thats why i posted that. sure 4.30's wouldl be good for the track if you got some et drags on the car. but even then they are a bit steep imho, dont put enough load on the turbo in first gear. builds boost slower that way.

The 4.30 gears would be good for racing from a roll.

Or look at it this way, when a kid in a riced out car with a fart can tries to do the "ricer fly-by" you can just down shift and stop him b4 the nose of his car even gets to your door ;).
