The cupholder from the sc300 is a good suggestion, more of those types of suggestions would be nice. Any other cars? I remember someone saying a while back there is a saab with a cupholder like that.

But you push it in and it falls otu and opens up itself like that. Then you push it back and it folds up and clicks back in.

I was able to find a few examples on the net. Most are for show and have a high-gloss, custom paint finish. I'm still undecided on the finish, but will not be too flashy. Lots of good ideas for the tuck-away cupholders.

I may get started with sketching some designs out, then posting up to get more feedback. Is there any other functionality that I should look at including? I was thinking about a couple of angled guage holders (2-1/16"), a spot to hold the MP3 player, even a place for the fire extinguisher (at end of console, almost behind the seats), and a couple of other ergonomic features (arm/hand rest).

My son and I go frequently to Sonic. I always use a towel to catch whatever falls out lettuce, fries.... When your done just shake towel outside the window and done. Good point though.

Don't ask me how many times I've spilled coffee.:3d_frown:

How many times did you spill your coffee?

Yup, we need to get rid of the car, as we have too many now (the xB made 5!)..

I'm going to pull it before we turn it into the state, honestly I don't really want it, but I can sell it to one of you guys...

I have a 91 Celica GT that has a retractable cut holder under the radio. It's spring loaded too so you just have to push it with your finger and it pops out. Be warned tho, the build quality is for shit. I replaced the radio and reinstalled the cup holder and now I can't get it to stay retracted for the life of me. They are very plentiful tho. If you hit your local junk yards you will find dozens of them.

the saab cup holder would be nice but where are you going to mount it. imo i hate having un-capped drinks in my car as they will tend to spill weather its you trying to shift around a corner or your dumbass friend. either way its better not to have drinks or food in the car. after cleaning it you will deff find french fires and straw paper under the seats.
