All plate lsd's create additional clamping force on the plates because the spider gears and side gears will try and drive apart when under load. Therefore even without ramps there will be an increase in clamping during acceleration over deceleration. Apart from an old tyrell F1 lsd i saw where the side gears were braced using shims so no force was imparted onto the plates during acceleration. I can only assume the 1.5 way means full during acceleration due to gears driving apart + spring preload, and .5 for decceleration due to spring pre-load only. After having another look at the diff i cannot see another way that thrust is created on the plates.
