Hey everyone I just got another Supra today with some of the money I got from selling the first one lol. The last Supra was awesome looking, but it didn't run well at all. This one looks...um...ricey, but it runs awesome! It's a 1986.5, black with 7MGE and the 5 speed with TEMS as well. Way quicker than my N/A Supra I sold. It looks ricey but I think it was a good buy ($400).

Anyways sorry for going off topic. I was wondering about the TEMS. I searched for answers but didn't get any. How exactly does the TEMS work? Can you only engage it when the car is at a stop? Any info would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

No restrictions on when you can switch it. I really notice a slight difference.

Neat part is cruise at 30MPH go Wide open and all three lights come on! :)

Then when you brake hard all three lights come on.

It's wired into the TPS, brake, speed sensor, and steering system, highly primative.

I'm going to ditch the setup but keep the light show. :)

1 Light = Soft (Normal)

2 Lights = Sport

3 Lights - Firm

A novel idea at the time, I'm sure...but it just doesn't make enough of a difference in handling characteristics to really even be worth it. It's just kinda a neat little gadget to amuse yourself with for 5 minutes when you first buy the car. :)

yea I thought it was awesome till like 15 mins after I started messing with it. I didn't know if it was broken or if the changes are so small that I couldn't even notice the difference lol.

The only car I ever noticed a decent difference between the stages on was running freshly installed dampers and new springs. It's a decent system (for a daily driver) as long as things are working well but it's nothing I'd go out of my way for.

Heh, this reminds me that I've still got a blue TEMS display I keep meaning to post for sale. D'oh.

The thing about TEMS is you have to used the adjustable shocks which are more expensive than the non TEMS. As the cars got older and required new ones, many of the owners chose the cheaper shocks, rendering the system useless. If you have fresh adjustable shocks, you should be able to tell a difference, but that is now rare.

I'd like to see some info on what the HKS controller does for them.

I also went with tokicos'.

They aren't on yet. But they were reasonably priced.

lol. I also looked at the konis and just couldn't nut that much up.

For the same price I got the tokicos and eibach springs.

I'm saving up for a new rack and stuff when I grow up.
