Cruise Control Question

I've been doing a little research on this and I was wondering if someone might be able to help me out. My question is, is there any difference in the cruise control system between the N/A and turbo motors to compensate for boost?

I'm swapping a 7mgte into a pickup and I'm trying to keep my cruise control. On my truck ('85), the entire cruise control system is more or less a vacuum operated standalone setup. The cruise cable even pulls the pedal itself instead of going towards the throttle body. This would be perfect if I don't need to worry boost compensation.

From looking at wiring diagrams, it looks like the two systems are setup very similar, even using many of the same wire colors and pin numbers on the cruise ecu. If it comes down to it, I may attempt to convert to a supra cruise setup.

Thanks for any help!

Supra cruise control might need a reading from speed sensor, pickups don't have speed sensor, but you can install one if needed I've seen it done

yes there is. i just looked at the 2 units, and they are very different. the turbo model is smaller and has extra solenoids and vac lines on it.

You are talking about the mechanical speed sensor on the back of the transmission that drives the speedometer cable, correct? (R154 setup). The pickup cruise ECU gets its speed signal from the gauge cluster, which I think is similar to how the supra is set up.

I would bet that the speed signals are similar since they are both toyotas from the mid 80's... Now I just need to drive around with an o-scope hooked up, haha.
