Who has bought cams from the first group buy that HPF had. I read that they had issues with the cam production. Soooooooo.....to dispell myth from truth I called Crower myself to find out what issues if any there was. :aigo::nono:

Do not post unless you had issues with the cams, and had to send them in for exchange. This thread is a factual thread not a hear say thread so if you don't have any issues don't make any references.

I had problems.
I called BC.
BC copped an attitude, and acted like he didn't want to address the problems.
So he got his cams back.

End of story.......

He didn't want to talk to me then,
I won't deal with Jr. any more.

Now, if he were to stand up like a man,
call me, and apologize,
that might make things right.

I've got my BC 264's from the first batch sitting in my garage waiting to go on. I'd like to hear these experiances and problems as well.

I have the BC264 cams from the first batch.

My car would not idle until I radically changed the cam gear settings to reduce overlap. Something like 6 degrees adv on the exhaust and 3 degrees on ret on the intake. And it still stalled all the time. Then to top it off, it failed emmisions very badly, even with a cat.

To make sure it wasn't something else, I reinstalled the stock cams at 0 0 and it idled ok. It also passed emmisions.

I talked to two differnt guys from BC including Brian, and they said the same old thing about ''We've sold hundreds of cams and have no complaints".

I sent the cams back to them to get checked out. They said the cams were fine- telling me that they are ground from the same billet. I had to repeatably tell them to send me back a different set of cams, and they eventially complied. I will probably install them again this weekend hoping that this set work better.

I remember hearing other people with 264's say they were fine too. I'm praying this new set I got will work.

Qwik, I'm surprised to see you starting a thread like this if you are having no problems. Nice that you are trying to help others. These cams have been a real drag. I don't even care about smearing BrianCrowers name with all the hours I put into installing and uninstalling cams. I just want my car to work.

I have these cams, and hope any anomalies found will help myself and others to have real conclusive evidence about what challenges this product has. Thats why I started this thread. Believe it or not this form is to learn about new things and to help others I thought.

You've probably heard it before, but you're an asset to this community and I'm glad that through the occasional bs you've stuck around.

i have heard some complain of warped cams. personally, my 272's seem to be ok, they were shipped horribly- layin at bottom of a box, protected ony by loose peanuts.
also brian crower is an arrogant ass to deal with. u will get nowhere with the man.....just fyi. if u buy his stuff, go through another vendor such as titan or hpf.

I wouldn't blame brian at all, he was the one responsible for 1jz cams for the 1jz guys.. I believe who ever did the R&D with him fed him bs info.

I did the R&D on the 1jz cams, and they've turned out amazing. Of coruse this was when we was back at crower. We have seen over 100WHP gains sorry to interject quick. Also cams usually require cam gear adjustment if there is overlap, which is why i tried to have them create cams for the 1jz with almost no overlap and they worked VERY VERY well.

This is not a thread I was excited to see. I have not put my 264's in yet. I am planning to do so in a couple weeks though, I am going to measure the journals and compare to stockers, any other details on what might be wrong with them??? I'd like to hear from anyone who's installed them now, good or bad. I was told mine were shipped when the first batch went out, I got the call from HPF saying they were on the way same day as Dave did(buckshot), but mine were never really shipped "accidentally". I got them like 4-6 weeks later, not exactly sure....maybe this is a good thing for me??

most of the problems were with the first batch, which is expected with new products i guess. if u just bought them, i think u will be ok. have a machine shop check them, the cam buckets will need to be reshimmed anyway.

by the way, brian is an ass. not just because of the cam situation. ive had other issues with him and his "i cant do anything wrong" attitude.

So far we don't have a hell of a lot of first time issues.

I think you just said more than you think..........
I doubt if Pop Crower would have ever shipped out the set I received.
I have bought all sorts of Crower products, there was never an issue.
It's called quality control.
I don't think BC has that yet.

Just an update on my BC cams. I installed the new BC264 cams over the weekend and guess what? My car actually idles now at 0,0 cam setting. Thank god.. The idle quality is not that great, but before it would not idle at all at 0 0. I'm going to take out a little overlap to see if I can get smooth out the idle somewhat.

One thing I really noticed was that the car felt a lot softer. Defiantly lost some bottom end. Maybe I can get some back with the cam gear adjustments.
