BIC is way easier dont change your whole subrame on your car just bolt the mounts to your engine and put it in.

when you change the subframe you have to worry if the rack is any good if it is compatable sometimes the racks on 89+ have pps which means you need the pps ecu and wiring then also you dont know if the bushings are good if the subframe had been bent some how then it takes so much labor. just put the bic mounts on your engine and be done the solid mounts that you use with the bic mounts are solid they last nearly forever and have no engine play the aluminum ones that come with the the 1jz and 2jz interfere with the down pipe and they use the hydro mounts new from toyota these cost 150-200 each for the price of 1 busted hydro mount you get the whole kit.

also i think some one in sf or on this forum modified the pre 89 subframe from round to square and that worked so he could use them but you sill get stuck with the hydro mounts.

I have a newer subframe. NO such issues as you mentioned.
Mounts don't cost that much from Toyota. One can buy the MKIV round mounts which are better anyways and use them flwlessly. I think They are around $80 at the dealer.
PPS rack is not an issue if you don't want to use it. My 1jz has PPS and it works great.

You should go with whatever option is easily attainable by you. Either will work fine for your swap.
