I believe the early 89's wont work, I have an 89 that has the square mounts. Save yourself the trouble and buy the mounts from BIC. Swapping a crossmember isn't the easiest thing in the world. At least I'd rather just put some new mounts on then swap out the crossmember.
Use the BIC mounts! really they are worth it most of the time the 1jz hydro mounts are cracked or broke anyways and they dont hold up to the hp and are no where near as cheap as the solid ones
You have less play with the solid ones it is an upgrade the bic mounts are around 150 each hydro mount is that and more. the solid mounts are in the 20$ range and even the used ones are almost never messed up.
I also heard you have more clearence for any 3" y pipe problems you will have with the non bic mount issues.
What is a BIC mount? And which crossmember can they be used with?
I am looking at putting a 2jz into my 89 GZ20 soarer which essentially has the subframe/ x member as a A70 chassis. I have a 1ggte so i guess it would be the same as a GA70.
I have an 89 round mount subframe. Its still on my parts car intact.(all suspention, bad ps rack) Shipping would be killer though. Id let it go cheap if you came and got it.
Just changed the front cross member in an 89 and I have to say it is not all that hard. The whole process took under two hours to do and cost under $100.00. Solid aluminum mounts you can have made for $150.00 or so. Let me know if you need mounts Can have some for you in a couple of days.
