Yep I know.....

It's been years since I've been out of the country and that was a spur of the moment thing.

You should plan a trip over here. I wouldn't mind meeting up with ya and buying you a beer.

I hope you have good tunes and decent tires T. I did 3500 miles in a weeks time on a crotch rocket.... You should make it just fine.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on getting your car back!!!!! Since you'll be going through mountains, make sure you have a plan in case it snows. Carry cables if you can, otherwise they won't let you through if they insitute chain control. I drove from CA to WA and back in March a couple years ago and didn't hit any snow, but you never know. Don't worry about running through part of Nazifornia - you're out of state, there's nothing they can do unless you get a moving violation. Your car's legally registered in your state so they're SOL on getting you for emissions crap, etc. (did I mention I ran my Sup for almost a year in CA with no cats and WA plates?). New Mexico and Arizona are HOT, dry, and boring as hell. I hope your A/C works for the rest of the trip. You should go a little further north and come see me, otherwise your route looks ok. :)

Haha, well I'm thinking about running through Cali more and more, since peeps on cs.com have said that Nevada is very desolate... I really dont wanna find myself fucked, 100 miles between gas stations or something... so I'll probably be changing my route

Thanks Serena! And, wtf you be smoking lady? A/c? LOL My car doesn't have a/c or heat..... or cruise control... or power steering.... heheheh.

Bare necessities. Should be good times :D

Bring a 5 gallon gas can just in case. I drove from SoCal to Portland in late October back in 2007 and I didn't have any issues in the mountains between Cali and Oregon. Very fun drive through the hills since it's a lot of turns and elevation changes. I cruised through most of it doing about 80 without a problem. Then again, I have power steering and more power. Good luck with the road trip.

I personally wouldn't want to deal with fumes. I'd rather just pay attention to when I fill up.

T I wouldn't miss the chance to drive down the coast of Cali. worth the extra bones. I've done the trip up from LA to Frisco.

I don't have unlimited funds for the trip.. I have about $600 to make the trek across the country, any more than that and I am fucked, lol.

As far as gas goes, I ALWAYS go by my trip meter, since my gauge is a little weird. I tend to fill up at 200-250 miles. (MY speedo is nearly 100% accurate up to 120mph, GPS verified)

Ahhhhhhh getting closer. I leave in 3 days. I am SO STOKED. :icon_bigg

A lot of my PacNW friends are helping me out with spare parts. So I'm starting to relax a little bit.

I also changed my route, I will be going through California now, so I don't get stranded in Nevada somewhere.

I also have a list of parts/fluids I will be installing beforehand or bringing with me:

battery terminals
battery tie down
fuses
bulbs
jumper cables
fusible links and/or wire & spades
electrical tape
3 alternator belts (lol)
alternator (if I can get one cheap enough)
fuel pump
spare tire/wheel
tire plug kit
flashlight
t-stat gasket
hose
FIPG
PB blaster
Toyota red coolant
oil
brake fluid
GL5

My 190pc craftsman toolset w/ screwdrivers, pliers, etc

Anything else I should add??

<---- Insanely jealous. I'm really excited for you, though. How much of the drive will be through CA? And where's the part about adjusting your drive so you come through the Atlanta area? :p

Ian, she already told you to come over here and meet up but you had some silly excuse about passports or some such nonsense. :D

Edit: Enjoy a LOT of nothing across SoCal, AZ and NM. You'll be retracing the route Jon and I took for the most part. Fine, come by close to GA and we'll try to meet up. What day do you plan on coming through that portion?

I have NO idea. I have never done anything of this magnitude before. I should be in Arizona by May 1st... hopefully... and I "might" be there for 1-2days depending........ then I'll stop in Texas, maybe for a day as well there. I honestly don't have a clue as to when I'll be in the GA/FL area. I was going to call Jake and see if we could meet up as well...

So maybe meet up around the Tallahasse area or something??

Yes and no on the boring part. If you stay on the main interstate = BORING. I've gone that to NM about 7 times usually take farm roads through TX. I think 36 cuts diagonaly. AZ from Vegas to Phx is a great stretch through the Joshua Forest. Salt River Canyon is a blast. NM depends on your route.

I don't know if your budget will allow for a non straight through route.
