George, I may need your assistance with bug removal when we come up next week. I got some bug remover stuff, it sucks. Gets MAYBE 3% of the bugs off :(

Cool! Tanya's going cross-country and cursing all the Supras she meets!!

Guys, there's probably some small sacrifice you can give to the Supra gods to get back in their favor..Perhaps a honda civic?!

I left a goat tied to a stake...need to go check to see if that appeased the Supra Gods.

Any news from Tanya?

ME!!?!?! Ohhhhh no you don't! YOU jinxed ME Mr "I will never break my 1JZ" and then knocked on my car, you JINXED yourself AND me and now I've been cursing every Supra since you!!!!

EVIL MAN. LOL

Well...the car had made it from Ft Worth, TX to a little past Pensacola before it started acting funny again, bogging down on the highway past 3500-4000rpm, especially on hills. I called a friend and asked for help. I didn't want to risk running too lean and blowing a hole through a piston so I got the car to Tallahassee, got a room, and waited for Dennis to come down with his spare parts, jack stands, etc. He drove 5 HOURS from Nor. Georgia to help me. VERY kickass guy.

He arrived at 2:30am and we decided to work on it in the morning after watching some guy in a van back into a new car right in front of us in the parking lot. ni ni! Woke up at 7am and took the gas tank down.

The fuel pump filter was FUCKED all to hell. My gas tank is eating up these filters. Time to get another tank, and make sure it gets cleaned and treated and do this one more time, LOL. The fuel pump replacement was far easier this time, did it in less than an hour.

Now I'm FINALLY on I-75 southbound, chilling out in Alachua with Laura and Doward.

Actually having another issue now... timing. Aaron had it set at 15 BTDC, which I tried turning back to 10* but the engine sounded like it wasn't happy so I left it at 14*using Denni's timing light and it lagged ass on the highway. Stopped, retimed it again by ear this time, and she pulled a little better but could still feel it being bleh. Now I am here and I retimed it to 12-13*, sounded good but Doward said the timing jumped a couple degrees after it came down from being revved... so I dunno. I took the timing cover off and the belt is tight, although the tensioner is RUSTED and pitted all to hell now. Ugh.

Anyways, I should be home in like 5ish hours if I get back on the road soon. I am lagging behind now, trying to avoid rush hour traffic in Tampa.

So after I got back from helping my roomated load up a BW 9bolt rear end + 36mm sway bar set + aluminum driveshaft for $165 from the U-Pull-it (for his '88 Camaro) I gave Tanya a hand with her MKII

The timing belt was loose - tightened it back down properly, and hey - no more timing jump! The slack in the belt was causing a full 4 degrees of timing deflection. Got her all set at 14 degrees BTDC when jumpered, and the MKII seems to be doing well.

Top'd off all Tanya's fluids, fed her lunch, and sent her on her way :D Pit stop complete ;)

Roomated? I think that was supposed to be "roommate"

Anyway, had lunch with Tanya, it was nice to meet ya! :) Sorry it was a short visit, but I understand wanting to get back to visit your kids - you've been gone for quite some time.

Ok, Hi all I am the Dennis Tanya was talking about. I have been a fourm member for a little while only lurking the JZ swap sections (1jz in my 82 MKII)
I can hear Tanya now... "OHH YEAAA JZZZZ BLAH< BLAH". I am glad to see the problem with the timing is fixed as it was getting late for both Tanya and me and we had replaced the Fuel pump with the crusty pump screen with the new unit. Car was much better but when she reved it it would stumble a little on its way down and the timing was not acting good..

T, let me know when you get back and how Amy-Li is running....

She sure is pretty under the hood... (Amy that is).
